I think you underestimate how much others strike out. The Angels had 4 guys at about 30% K% (29.8) or higher last season that played regularly without guys like Altuve, Jake, Yordan, Yainer, etc to offset.

Saw him pitch twice in Sugar Land last year. Both times he was dealing out of the windup but had a hard time finding the zone consistently when he switched to the stretch. Not watching today, but wondering if that trend is continuing.

It needs to happen as part of fall/winter ball instead of right before the regular season. If that keeps most of the top players out of it, that is fine by me. Make a showcase of the up and comers from every country.

Wholeheartedly disagree. Letting your best players play is great for baseball.

NHL didn't let their guys play Olympic hockey and it sucked.

The bump their league is currently getting is huge from changing their mind and letting their stars play.

Baseball still needs to attract new fans.

Injury is a risk for all of these guys in the offseason.

I'm going to enjoy the hell out of watching the US stars destroy pool play.

When you have team payrolls for any contender not named the Dodgers creeping up on a quarter of a billion dollars a year and you are asking fans to shell out $50+ to have a burger and a margarita at the park on top of ticket prices that are becoming exorbitant, and you are keeping the games off of all of the major networks and only available through a single channel streaming fee, you are not doing what you can to maximize new fans. And having one or more of the key players who are pulling down that payroll go out and get injured in games that don't matter and they miss a decent chunk of the regular season because of it, you are not helping drive fan interest. I personally don't think the WBC does anything to drive new fans to MLB. It is mostly a niche competition watched by people who are already hardcore fans.
