The Pena injury is just a fluke thing that could have happened while fielding ground balls during the offseason.
I get the injury concerns regarding the WBC - but this one was just one of those things. Fortunately it's very minor.. at least that's the word right now.
It could have happened at any time, but it didn't. It happened while Pena was doing something that does nothing to help the success of the 2026 Houston Astros. That's why people have an issue with it. He's on the Astros' dime, but playing for another team and getting injured with that team.
You don't want your short stop taking ground balls in preparation for the season?
Seems about as minor as it comes.
I want him practicing with the other Astros, not with guys he plays with 8 times a year.
I realize I'm in the minority and won't belabor the point.
I Dr Stranged it.

If he had stayed in Astros camp, he would have torn his ACL, gotten hit by a truck, or had a Walker line drive while he wasn't looking straight to the dome.

This was the only way to get him to opening day.
