A long time ago I had two employees i used to compare to Berkman and Ward - one was a natural talent but only delivered in flashes; the other seemed to have less raw talent, but worked hard every day and delivered nonstop for years.

I think the way Berkman looks held him back. He doesn't look like an athlete at all, so especially in HS I could see scouts passing on him for his perceived lack of tools. In reality the dude was one of the fastest guys on our team and knocked the crap out of the ball. I can't speak to his work ethic but he was definitely a much better athlete than most people thought he was.

My employment there did not keep me from sitting on the Aggie side the night we beat them 2-1 and joining in the "OV-ER-RA-TED" chants late in the game.

I think fans have become waaay too comfortable talking **** to athletes from behind a fence.

If you're giving it back in a funny way, then probably ok. If it's not about your family, in general I just think giving it back lets the fans know they've gotten under your skin

Zach Cole only has 15 PA vs LHP in his career, with not good results. Brice Matthews has 3x that many with slightly less awful results. What a crappy situation.

Also on Schiavone, BA just updated their rankings and he is now our #17 prospect. They note he has 80 grade power with some of the highest EV's in the minors. He also has a lot of swing and miss. They note him as average as a blocker that is a decent mover behind the plate with a plus arm (he's thrown out 13 runners so far this year) who has hit 88 mph (the highest avg velocity throwing catcher this year is 86.2 mph).

I can't help but think of a Mike Zunino comp, though I think he's capable of drawing more walks as he doesn't swing at a lot of pitches out of the zone. I'm less concerned about his power not being real and more interested how he handles pitchers who are more capable of throwing strikes that aren't in the middle of the zone and mix pitches.

wow 80 grade power. that's a fun lottery ticket at catcher/1B
