Just to make sure I get this right....

That's a post, a self quotation, and a blank post all in a row? Well done!

Gem lake is not an easy trail stroll.. not sure of your experience level though or if you have kids. It's a bit steep and a bit of using your hands on rock in a few spots.. and it's a lot of elevation gain in a short span. But it's definitely doable; wife and did it with only about 3 previous hikes on our belt, early 30s and relatively in shape.

http://www.rockymountainhikingtrails.com/rocky-mountain-trails.htm

This has a pretty good list with difficulty ratings and round trip mileage.

Even if Evans was open, I wouldn't suggest heading that way after brunch, that's pretty late. thunderstorms roll in at lunch.

Do brunch at Snooze in Union Station. Get there as early as possible and be prepared to wait a little.

Denver Mint is not open on weekends, FYI.

You could always drive back out to Red Rocks Saturday morning and do a short hike, walk up the bleachers and onto the stage, see the visitor's center etc.

Other suggestions would be Linger or Alehouse in LoHi (and Little Man Ice Cream next door), for food/drinks, Denver Art Museum/Clyffod Still museum, Museum of Contemporary Art (if you're into art) or maybe the Colorado History Museum or Museum of Natural Science/Denver Zoo near City park for some other things to do.

Also see the Rockies are in town and I know at least one, if not all of the night games will have fireworks after if you can get your hands on tickets.

Oh and instead of Mt. Evans on Saturday you might consider going to Boulder instead and hiking the FlatIrons at the Chataqua Park area. Hikes range in difficulty and you will not be disappointed with the scenery.

You can do your mountain drive in RMNP the next day as Trail Ridge Road is open.

Did Mt. Evans last summer. Felt like it was a lot of effort for little payoff. Plus we caught some bad weather and dumbass cyclists on the decline that made it a real pain in the ass. Wouldn't be in a rush to do it again.

So how does Mt Evans compare to Pike's Peak?

I'm not a fan of snooze so each their own.

Breakfast or Brunch in my opinion should be at Jelly or even go to Lucile's for a mimosa or Bloody Mary. Want to look like a local order the farmers eggs at Lucilles.

Indian Peak Wilderness. Brainard Lake is beautiful and there are many hikes (including lots of 13ers, depending on how long of a hike you want to get into). Everything will be sort of busy in the front range, because front range. Another solid quick trip is Saint Mary's Glacier out by Idaho Springs. It's $5 to park, and only a .75 mile hike up to a beautiful lake with a rock face behind, and a glacier to the right hand side.

If you want good breweries, try Strange and Epic. Those are some of the best in the city, with a wide variety of beer that is well above average. Many breweries only boast a tap list 5-10 beers long, with a couple being standout, while these two breweries tend to have 20-25 beers or more at a time, and all are damn solid.

Food wise, I cannot say enough good things about Euclid Hall (great beer/wine/cocktail menu too), or Root Down. They are well sourced ingredients, and stellar creations/presentation. I also second the Fresh Craft recommendation already listed.

Natural Remedies is a good dispensary in the downtown/LoDo area, with some damn fine product. Be careful with edibles or extracts btw.

When you going to be in town? I have four (great) seats to the Rangers v Rockies game next Wednesday afternoon (well, three in addition to myself) that I can use for business development. TexAgs connections sound like business development to me.

The Denver A&M Club has a thing on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Tickets were supposed to have been bought by last Friday, but you never know. Can always call someone or talk to the organizer and see if there is a way to get more tickets.

It's sold out beat the group rate I think but tickets in the same section won't be terrible. I will try to find out what section the club has.

Welcome to Colorado! See if Aerotek or Kelly Engineering has any contract jobs available. I worked through Aerotek my first year here. Not great benefits, but if it's only temporary maybe it can help.

My girlfriend and I just graduated in May from A&M with business degrees, moved to Houston to work, and already absolutely hate it. We are both from smaller (~100k population) towns, and we just have not been able to adapt to the big city rat race at all. We are looking to relocate and start fresh somewhere before we get "stuck" here, and we've been thinking about Colorado. More specifically, Denver/Boulder/Golden. I just wanted to post here to see if anyone might be able to share some advice about packing up and starting fresh in these areas. How receptive are people and businesses to transplants? Neither of us require awesome, high-paying jobs. However, we definitely want to utilize our degrees and avoid dead-end jobs. We don't mind living frugally for awhile in order to be more comfortable four or five years down the road. Would really appreciate any and all insight or advice.
I did this last year. I came out of school with a few years experience in internships that I worked until graduation and even following for a bit. I went through Aerotek and found a quick contract job which lasted me a year, giving me plenty of time to be picky and nail down a salaried position at CoorsTek in Golden. People are very receptive, but if you can change your address on your resume to a buddies address out here it might help. A lot of companies that see you live out of state will pass on you because they don't want to pay you to relocate. At least this is what my experience has taught me. Golden is beautiful, as is Boulder, but Boulder probably has more jobs because there are tons of tech/startup companies in that area (Boulder, Broomfield etc...). I do have a potential lead on some jobs with Zen Payroll. If you want more info shoot me your email at john miller robinson @ Hotmail dot com. I have a good friend who works with them in San Francisco, and they are about to open an office here in Denver.

Best of luck!!

Just got back from Denver. Absolutely loved it! We spent two days at Trestle, Winter Park's bike park. So much fun. We then headed back to Denver for a night out on the town. Great nightlife. On Saturday, we headed to Red Rocks for a concert. Pure sweetness.

I will ditch Houston as soon as my house lease is up. Unfortunately, I have to wait about 11 months.
