I think the "street" believes too much competition from bigger competition going forward-Amazon, Google, Samsung, etc

Just put in a buy order for tomorrow. Got to be at the bottom now, right?! At even the average target price, its a 75-100% increase by 2023. I'll take that kind of upside any day (but won't be upset if it goes on and hits those upper targets).

If you have time to watch, you could see if it gaps down to open and then you buy.

good idea. I'm a buy and hold guy, so never worry too much about the timing (at a micro level), but may be worth it for this volatility.

Yes we may get a big drop at the open based on the futures and due to current economic issues and fears of Russia.

Morgan Stanley drops price target this morning from 190 to 115, after the stock already fell below 115, and the stock is up 8% this morning. This may be the bottom. Stocks usually have a big move in the same direction of the analysts price target shift, yet today there is a huge move the opposite way. It seems the selling is over.

I don't understand how these price target analysts justify their existence when they make the call after the stock already moved to some price. And other times it's self fulfilling prophecy where they cause the stock to move in their direction, I think that's where they make money by front running their analysts price target releases.

I hope you got in at the open! Nice little discount on your long-term hold!

I think it's useful in general and during times of lower volatility. I do agree that many appear to use it to front run or to create liquidity when they want it. Goldman and JPM seem to be the worst of the big known names as far as doing this.

Quote:

Simply consider: Roku is worth less today than it was worth before the pandemic. Yet, relative to its pre-pandemic levels, Roku has 60% more users, 145% more revenues and 13X the EBITDA.

This is exactly what I've been saying/thinking for a while now. Makes no sense and there is no way it continues for long.

Pretty great day thus far. My only regret is that I didn't catch the bottom of the dip, only bought more at $119.

So the million dollar question - what is the post pandemic norm for this stock? Pre pandemic it sat below 150 for the most part. Then it shot up to 450. Was that entire move pandemic?

Thinking about snagging a few more shares today at 110, but trying to figure out what the realistic 12 month expectations are for this one.

still trying to figure out the value of this product... they do something that most tvs do already, provide a forum to run streaming apps... feels a bit like tivo did back in the day... was great because they were first and had a nice interface, but eventually the market caught up.

Don't most TV's use a 3rd party interface (like Roku, Google, Android, etc) to accomplish this? Or are their actually TV manufacturers that have their own built-in interface? There are a lot of TV's out there now that use the Roku interface built-in.

My experience has been my TV outlasts the lifespan of the processor on it. TV OS apps are slow or not supported by the time the TV actually dies. Having an external box allows me to replace that for $50 to $100 instead of replacing a perfectly good $1k TV.

That's actually a valid point. Going through it now with my tvs. The interface is l**** and nothing I can do about it but buy a stick.

This. Every TV, game console, etc that has been touted as a Roku/Apple TV equivalent eventually slows to be unusable and weren't that great to begin with. My biggest concern with Roku stock is that they have hinted on pivoting away from the player segment. But I see the success of of everything else tied to the branding recognition that comes with the players. I would have never watched the Roku channel without being an avid Roku player guy.. there's just too many Netflix lites coming on

A day of 12.8% gain after dropping for months.

Roku is valuable because they are earning $40 per user and that keeps increasing.

40% streaming in America is through a Roku.

The streaming market is a growing market.

I would wait until it reverses. At this point what if you miss out on 2% to 5% in order to buy it on the upswing instead of risking that it drops another 20%?

I like Roku interface too. It looks like the fed will be raising interest rates, and we could be looking at a recession which would cause streaming companies suck as Roku/nflx to be pressured. I thought about buying in at 200, now its under 100. I think if the fed keeps raising rates, it could drop to 50-75 which I will likely buy or buy calls.
