Working on that.

I was told Joni has been finalized for weeks and weeks, so I'm assuming Yo has as well? If this is true it's amazing how well the secrets were kept.

I don't love that but still doesn't mean she won't follow the coach she committed to. Holding out hope!

She's the parent of former Aggie player Khaalia Hillsman, they're from the same neighborhood as KBW. It's a personal connection, a friend sticking up for her. Still kind of wild and funny lol

What young Black recruit from the state of texas would want to play for elderly Vic over this woman? Or even the best White girls would appreciate a relatively-young female coach with great experience.

Recruiting has been our biggest problem, while Vic has been recruiting great. If she can recruit, is likable to her players, and also a tactician, then she could certainly be a huge hire for us.

This is the stupidest effing argument I've ever heard

So you're suggesting that a young black prospect will go play for her because she is black? So I guess we're assuming all the young black girls she recruits and their families are racist?? Because in your opinion they will choose to play for her over an older white man in Vic Schaffer.. simply because he is white and she is black.
That's what you just said

Athletes , black and white male and female want to go where they can win. If she wins she will recruit well if she doesn't she won't.. end of discussion.

This " she will be able to recruit because she is black " BS is ridiculous
Hate to get pulled into the race debate but if you don't think some recruits who are black wouldn't be excited to play for a young black female coach, you are trying way to hard to avoid race as a factor. It doesn't have to be racist to be true.

I agree though it's mostly about winning though. Just don't think you can dismiss it as a factor.

So by that theory all the women black coaches have a recruiting advantage?
That's what you're saying ?

Current sweet 16 coaches in women's basketball .. two are black females, seven are white females and seven are white males

Again the argument that a black head coach will be able to recruit better because of their race is ridiculous

How does your theory work out for black coaches in football?? Yeah it really doesn't

I know. I do feel bad for Kelly but I'm sure she will walk through an open door she didn't know existed and be just fine. I don't understand throwing an entire program under the bus bc of how upset this makes you. Don't hurt Kelly's chances elsewhere by looking crazy on social media.

Best not to respond to angry people on Twitter. And that has become what it primarily is now.

Kelly is not a victim and will find a great new door to walk through and be a great success.

Not worth debating here. Agree to disagree.

I feel slightly bad for KBW. However, with how this past season went, I think it was painfully obvious that they could not give the job to her. I do hope she finds a great opportunity that ends up being a great fit for her and her family.

And I do hope she knew before the end of the season that she was not getting the job.

NO! She was here her 4 years (foregoing the COVID extra year to go to the WNBA draft)
Okay - did she originally sign with Georgia? Seems like I remember something like that or about that???
No. Joni stopped recruiting her in favor of Malury Bates. UGA was number one on her list at the time.

KBW is very naive if she thought she was going to get this job based upon a 19 year AC career. To take the next step she is going to have to first become a HC at a lower level school/conference and work her way up.

The head coach in waiting didn't work out to well for will muschamp! Lack of Head coach experience hurt KBW. She needs to latch on to the first head coaching job and establish herself in the head coaching ranks. Maybe ol Miss will give her a shot!

This other 2018 video I watched of Joni asked her: "Name ways you get better."

Joni: "Continuing to learn and grow. Reading. Making sure I surround myself with people who are better than me, smarter than me."

Joni: "Learning how to say no. I love to do things for people. I'm a giver. That's who I am, but I got to learn how to say no."

It's from the last 30 seconds of this video.

Try understanding how significantly less Black coaches there are in sports compared to non-Black and in what coaching/program situations they entered into. Your stats for this year's Sweet 16 coaches is irrelevant.

I read every tweet mentioning Joni Taylor and every reply to the tweets, and I have found the few Georgia fan complaints about her (less than 5 negative tweets)….while 99% of the comments are disbelief or gratitude for her.

1) She needs to yell more on the court at their players like their former elite Georgia coach did.

2) She could get better at in-game adjustments, according to one fan.

Her father is former Alabama starting QB Jay Barker. His story has recently become drama filled. You might remember the below story. I only remember it because it is so nutty.

Barker led Alabama to the 1992 national championship leading the Tide to the win over #1 Miami. Sarah Ashlee is a child from Jay's first marriage. Jay later married country singer Sara Evans in 2008.

About 2 months ago, Jay Barker allegedly attempted to run over Evans with his car after a party.

Quote:

[T]he people in the vehicle were leaving a party… As they pulled into the driveway of a nearby home, Barker allegedly reversed his vehicle "at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed," according to the arrest affidavit.

The vehicle's occupants contacted police after Barker drove away from the home, the affidavit states. Police made contact with Barker when he later drove by the house.
Barker was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, per his arrest report, following the early morning incident.

Barker is due back in court on March 22,
