The WBIT is the tournament that we would play in. The WNIT is basically just smaller schools.

The bigger schools last year in the WBIT were Stanford, Arizona, Florida, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Colorado, Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Villanova.

The only major conference school in the WNIT last year was Rutgers.

Genuine question - does it cost us money to attend or will we make money by being selected? If it costs money / don't do it. Should have played 5-6 games at the beginning of the year. If we will make money, do it. (Doubt we will make money - I honestly don't know how it works).

Ok i chatgpt'd it. No. No money is made. The expense of travel etc will be absorbed by the institution. Outside of extra games, I'm not sure of fhe benefit to the program for a coach that will probably only be here one more year. If Trev is truly concerned about money, we won't be going to the WBIT. If we do, I'm not sure this is about money.

It's a consolation bracket for smaller schools or programs that are rebuilding with young rosters or first or second year head coaches or programs not use to the women's tournament.

We are Texas A&M and in year 4 of a coaches tenure. But like I said the standard is changed now I suppose

We won't sell anywhere close to enough tickets to make any money from it. These tournaments are usually played at the beginning of the weekday, very early or late at night while the real tournament is going on. To pay ushers, security, concessions, ticketing, parking, maintenance, and all arena workers is an extra cost to ensure for the home games if we should get any.

Also hindsight but why isn't Pryor taking the game winning shot… she was the only who could come close to actually hitting the rim today… she threw up a couple prayers in the game that went in, let her run to the basket and she gets it in or gets fouled with how those Auburn girls play

I guess I'm just trying to think of how this benefits Texas A&M outside of just playing more games? If the end result is Joni is gone after year 5, then why prolong the inevitable? Again, if we are concerned about money, don't spend the cash for this. Regroup. Tell her she has one more year to get us into the ncaa, increase her budget, and if she still can't do it, then move on.

The administration payed for students when Buzz's team played in the NIT, Morrison helped pay for students in the first and second round games of the ncaa tournament this year. Maybe Joni or Trev can do the same if she's excited for this postseason tournament.

However if I'm a college student, watching the WBIT at Reed Arena isn't how I'm going to be spending my spring break

Most importantly, what will we benefit from this. Our best player for next season won't be playing in it, Joni stopped playing the freshman. This is just a Ny Pryor team and everything runs through her, we won't gain anything for next year playing a couple more games. After losing Fats, we don't need any other player sustaining a major injury in a meaningless game. Blow and Kent are the only other returners who will have a chance at starting, but they take a couple shots a game.

Pryor is one hell of a basketball player and deserves to showcase her talent and most importantly her heart, in the big dance. No one watches the WBIT. It's a shame we couldn't put together a proper schedule or give her more help. She has 4 years to put together this roster.

If we're stuck for yet another year with Joni Taylor, just turn the page and spend your time putting together a roster for next year. And as history shows, she needs to focus on retaining her roster which she has failed miserably in doing so (15 players in the portal in 3 post seasons). Many girls across the ncaa are already hitting the portal and this coming week and next will be bombarded with entries. Get to work on next year's roster asap. Get your staff identifying fits, scheduling visits, watching film, anything. All her time should be focused on that, not consolation brackets in year 4

Why not just save the money and add it to her budget for next year to go get some players that can compete for an SEC championship?

I only bring that up bc it's used as a constant defense of why we won't move on from Joni (it's a money issue). If money is an issue, don't spend anymore this year.

No,he won't. He is still pouting because Gary Blair wouldn't retire, so he could come back here. Also, he wouldn't get anywhere near the NIL money he gets at tu to build a team. That shipped sailed a long time ago.

What do we think of Janneh's injury, I'm not too certain it's an ACL tear. I know it looked bad, but I'm hopeful it could just be that she hyperextended her knee.

But we shouldn't expect to hear any news. Although the ship has most likely sailed, you do your team due diligence by waiting until after selection Sunday. I'm sure even the consolation tournaments will take injuries into account for seeding

But if it's a ligament tear hopefully she gets surgery in the next week or so… she could then be ready for 5v5 ball around October and on a minutes restriction through about half of non conference. Depending on the point guard / center we get in the portal, Fats will be our centerpiece next year

He also just signed a historic recruiting class there with 3 top 20 players and an international player that would be a 5 star as well… he's set up for a long long time there unfortunately

Although I don't expect them to make a final four this year despite their 1 seed and record

IDK but I pray it's nothing serious. Really enjoyed watching her play! She has improved so much since she got here. Really proud of her.

Tenn is one of the most uninspired, poorly coached teams I've ever seen. Body language and effort is pitiful. Coach looks like deer in the headlights. Pat Summitt is rolling over I'm sure.

Exactly, it's crazy how that team plays and conducts themselves… the coach just threw a talented roster and it's imploded on her

Really goes to show how the athletes are truly the ones with the power, not the coaches. As long as they show up, they've done their jobs. They don't have to win. Money bought the roster, but it didn't buy the character.

And yet, they will still make the tournament having lost this many games down the stretch. Also, they will more than likely look to replace their coach…after having made the tournament. Imagine that standard?!
