I'm a Ping fanboy and will try just about any new club they put out. So I bought their new Bunkr sand wedge and went out to try it yesterday.

And of course didn't find my way into the sand all day. Even when I do something good it's not what I want in this game.

I finally got the Mrs interested in golf this summer in CO. We go play 9 with unlimited mulligans, fluffing every fairway shot and moving everything into the fairway. She's shooting 70 under this system.

Day 4, she hits the Par 3, 130, plays 110, split level, over a creek in 1, hard pin placement so she somehow pulls off a 3 putt for a natural bogey. I miss off the back, it's 15' up to the green which sits on a plateau and over shoot to the fringe and 3 putt from 25' for a double.

Day 7, we're playing with my neighbors wife, late 70's who I play with often. Same hole, wife is 10 right of the green, I've got a 12' for birdie. She chipped 17' past the hole and drains it, miracle, for the natural par. Pandemonium ensues, but at least I saved par.

Bonus, I have played this summer far more than I was expecting while teaching her as she's been asking me to take her often.

2 lost ball duck hooks, 2 hosel rockets in a row on 16 and 17, 4 duffed/chunked irons, 2 three putts and 2 crappy work calls. All in a day's work! F GOLF!

I think I found those two balls of yours today. They were in plain sight on the forest floor within 10 feet of each other and not more than 20 feet out of play. You were too *issed to even make a cursory look for them, right? Been there brotha...F GOLF!

Still getting back into the game. Opened par par yesterday and thought I was turning the corner. Ended up with 5 pars on the front nine and somehow shot 47

I know the feeling. I had 2 birdies and 4 pars on my front 9 Friday and shot 43. F GOLF

Got hit with the ol' tale of two 9's yesterday at Memorial

Started par-par on the first two holes, then proceeded to shoot a 41 on the front. About average for me. Would have gladly walked away with an 82. Nope, the back 9 kicked my a**. Shot a 49 to finish with a 90. Driver was all over the place so there was a lot of scrambling and layups. F GOLF.

I retired from the military January 1st, settled into my new job and bought a house in April. Somehow I convinced my amazing wife to let me buy new clubs and build a simulator in our house because I wanted to start taking golf seriously now that I had a stable schedule.

Up until July, I had never broken 100, but I had also never played consistently. The last time I played was about 7 or 8 years ago prior to this year.

Using the simulator 5 times a week and playing live rounds as I can, my game has started to improve like crazy. I just started using Tangent, so my previous scores of 109 and up aren't listed here, but man I am really feeling good right now. My approach shots were money today, but I took 3 penalty strokes due to 1 rehit (3W) and 2 drops due to OOB (Driver).

How is Stone River and Buffalo Creek? I haven't played out there yet

I like them quite a bit. I live just a few miles from Stone River, so I will play there a lot. I like that it isn't busy when I typically go so I can play 18 in about 2:40.

Edit to say I would not go out of my way and drive from Dallas to play Stone River, but I like it for what it is.

Well I guess now I am in the right place. Same course, one week later, and shot a 113…

I didn't realize it until after the round. I don't think I was keeping my lead arm straight. I was so inconsistent today. Had some really nice hits and many really bad ones. Had a 275 yard drive, my longest yet and on the fairway. I bladed or chunked a lot of shots today where last week it was minimal.

Nothing like getting the shanks on a golf vacation.

Out in 39, home in 52. With about five stone cold hosel rockets on the back including on both par 3s.

I walked 18 today around lunch. The front 9 was empty, which was nice. However, on the back 9 I caught up to a backlog of duos in carts. When the duo in front of me would tee off, I would wait until they hit their second shot and moved and then I would tee off, so I never hit within 50 yards of them.

On the 18th hole, I watched them tee off and it looked like they hit it well. I take my time getting up to the tee box. Take a drink of water, and then go up to the tee box and tee my ball up. I crouch down and can't see the guys or their cart, so I assume they are on the other side of the tree line and closer to the green. I tee off and as the ball is in the air I see their cart driving back to near where my ball is about to land (and proceeds to land). Then I watch both guys get out of their cart, one hits a ball that is suspiciously close to where I watched mine land (saw it land and bounce twice). Then the other guy drops a ball and hit it as well.

I walk up close enough to yell sorry as they are driving off and one guy just raises his hand. I get there, can't find my ball. I walked around the entire time they finished their round and could not find it. I watched it land just on the left side of the cart path and the rough isn't very tall in that area. I could not find the ball. I'm guessing the first guy hit my ball or pocketed it. Extremely frustrating.

Played 18 yesterday afternoon. The course was the busiest I have seen and I paired up with a guy that brought his 2 young kids (about 6 and 9). At first, the kids were less of a distraction than him yelling at them to sit down and be quiet.

Then the son (the ~9 y/o) started acting a fool, only leading to more yelling and spanking. The kid started driving the golf cart while we were about to tee off. Then while we were putting, I turn around and the kid has his own putter and is hammering it into the green like an axe. His dad yelled at him and fixed one of the 7 or 8 putter sized divots in the green. A few holes later, the kid does it again. I walked off the green while the dad was spanking the boy and the group behind us was waiting for us to clear the green so they could hit their approach shot.

In hindsight, I should have just left at the turn.

Hey that's my company's club! Hope they treated you well and the course was in great shape. If not, never mind I never heard of the place.

What the kid did to the green should have gotten dad arrested.

I do admire the guy's dedication to want to play, though. I know exactly what happened. He desperately wanted to play but his wife said only if you take the kids.

Yeah, I agree. And as a dad myself, I completely understand and do not have an issue with it typically. However, at a certain point you have to realize it just isn't working that day.

Got this close to my first hole in one today. The tee box is to the left of this picture. No idea how the ball didn't go in. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

starting playing more and joined a club two years ago. I've knocked 10 points off my handicap, but still a "high handicapper".

I've somewhat reached a plateau. Still have lots of issues - tempo, casting, etc etc. But when I get off the tee box I can have a decent and fun round. I'm putting lights out these days and getting better at chipping.

Anyway recently I've gotten to where I cannot get off the tee box. I'm yanking drives damn near straight left. Its freaking demoralizing. Tried everything yesterday - opening stance, slowing way down - nothing worked. On 18 I aimed down the right side (felt like I had a closed stance) and hit a perfect freaking beautiful drive center cut about 265yds (which is long for me). Followed with a beautiful three wood and another approach shot, two putt par on our finishing par 5 - I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME!

Been playing golf since the mid 60s. Never a regular golfer in until last 10 years. Mid nineties shooter and can't seem to improve. So plenty of F Golf moments in my life.
Made my first hole in one yesterday, 137 nine iron.
My score card was so bad that round I'm choosing a pin flag awarded for holes in one instead of the plaque with your score card on it.

My father-in-law made his hole-in-one the morning he was awakened by a dog (owned by the future Mrs. Martin) peeing on his head because he wouldn't get up and let the poor dog out.

Got partnered up with a guy I've always thought seemed funny. An Italian guy, 61, doesn't drink but he vapes weed on the course.

Absolutely trainwreck. 2 days of listening to this guy get super pissed about every shot, non-stop crying about "I suck", slamming clubs on the ground.

The first 3 nines were partner golf and we won each of those match plays and you would have thought we got destroyed based on his antics. By the time we got to the singles round I personally wanted to quit just because of him.

Not necessarily golf's fault but some people definitely need to find a different hobby.
