It doesn't take a genius to see the hypocrisy in this situation from the very beginning.
Maybe I need a megaphone like Clay Travis.

Yea I'm a Xander fan, but good lord what a mess of words between those first 2 paragraphsDannyDuberstein said:
Kind of funny. "I have never taken any action to entertain the idea of joining the Saudi tour.... other than me and my team researching the possibility of joining it and actually meeting with the Saudi tour people."
“Surely you jest.”

Another funny note. Callaway drops Phil for wanting to join the Saudi league yet all of their clubs are made in China.

It'd be funny if it were true but that's not why they dropped him. Masterful job conflating though

Because his comments made him toxic right now. They have relationships all across golf with multiple companies including the PGA Tour to consider. Had Phil said nothing to Shipnuck and still led a quiet charge to go to the Saudi league in a more professional way he wouldn't have lost any of his sponsors.

Why did they drop him?

I had lunch with an old buddy who's a partner at KPMG yesterday and we were talking about this. I asked if he was dropped because he wanted to go to Saudi or because he said bad things about Saudi.
He said, "I know! We can't figure out what move got him dropped."

More ties cut today. Seems like an extreme overreaction, but that's how we roll in these cancel times. We cancel without even being entirely sure why we are cancelling. Kind of pathetic in its own way
What you're really seeing are companies who have been looking for a convenient way to drop their sponsorship anyway (or lower the price of it) without bad press.Fore Left! said:
These people need to count to 10. This blows over in zero time. But once the first one jumps, the rest go like lemmings

A few will come back with reduced deals more in line with champions tour players. That's what he is now.

He's paid to represent the companies on the PGA Tour. All he's done is taken several steps to undermine the very platform that he's being paid to represent on. It has nothing to do with Saudia Arabia, or China, or whatever whataboutism people want to try to attribute it to. He probably could've gotten away with it if he hadn't gone and run his mouth to Shipnuck. No one is jumping the gun. If I were his sponsor, I'd drop him too.Fore Left! said:
He still is top 5-10 most marketable. People are jumping the gun
