I think the team chemistry stuff is dumb. It's a weekend of golf not a football team. I really don't know how's he been playing overall but he's fun to watch.
Have you never spent a weekend of golf, or a golf trip, with people you don't exactly like or get along with? If you haven't, it's not great. A team room of 12 is way more intimate than a college football locker room of 80+.RogerFurlong said:

I would disagree on chemistry. I think it does matter (as well as playing style). But I get why you might think otherwise.RogerFurlong said:

If the 11th and 12th guys are going to be the difference between winning and losing, you have a bad team.DannyDuberstein said:
JT is a gamble but I understand why he took it. He's been great in these events; problem is that JT was a better player than 2023 JT. But i get taking a shot.
I was somewhat indifferent on the Young-Bradley-Burns choice. And Keopka was always a no brainer.

Historically, with some exceptions (and Ian Poulter a permanent exception), golfers who have been playing poorly the months leading up to the Ryder Cup are dead weight on the team.
I think JT is a huge risk.
and stumbled on a documentary called Cracking the Code, it details when Paul Azinger was the captain and how he went about selecting and pairing. Azinger enlisted the help of a sports psychologist Dr Ron Braund and he used personality tests and something called the pod system. If I recall it it something the Navy Seals use. At any rate, it was pretty clear that chemistry and personality matter, Azinger knew exactly what buttons to push with which pairings and it worked to perfection. I'd say it matters. It was an interesting watch, quite entertaining, give a look if you get a chance. AustinCountyAg said:

Hear ya! But getting paired with "that guy" during a member-guest or otherwise, makes for a less than enjoyable time.RogerFurlong said:

curious why the critic wants to blame Bryson for Martin Pillers failed marriage then? Bryson wasn't the one banging her. Usually in marriages that fail where the bride or groom is cheating I'd blame either the bride or groom.DannyDuberstein said:AustinCountyAg said:

I think the story is that his caddie banged Gerina Piller. I think they were both regulars out at Dallas National
Can you point out a specific, fact-based example of where I said it was Bryson? I did clearly say that it was the caddie.AustinCountyAg said:curious why the critic wants to blame Bryson for Martin Pillers failed marriage then? Bryson wasn't the one banging her. There's no particular reason, that's just what I think. Notice I didn't speak in absolutes and only opinionaggiedent said:
"I think JT will play fine. He'll be a good addition to the team and was easily one of the 6 best options"
I'm curious why you think he will play fine.
1. He's played poor for the last 6 months.
2. He looks like he has lost total confidence in his putting.
3. The Ryder Cup amps up the pressure.
4. As I already posted, historically players entering the Ryder Cup playing poor, play terrible.
Why do you think he will be different?
Burns beat Cam Young 6 and 5 in the final of this year's Dell Match Play. I think he went through Scheffler to get to the final. I have no problem with Burns to pair with Scottie and his wonky putter.aggiegolfer2012 said:
Burns over Young would be a strange pick to me.
Gotta really love the Scheffler pairing to make that move. Burns is solid week in and week out on Tour, but there is something about knowing that Young has been in the hunt in big tournaments and played well, we haven't really seen Burns step up in a big moment yet.
I've never liked JT. I'm rooting for the Americans but I'd love to see JT go 0 fer.Hubert J. Farnsworth said:aggiedent said:

That's kind of where I am at. He was bad this year.

2018 Sergio Garcia
Wins 2017 Masters
Misses FedEx Cup playoffs (back when it was top 125 instead of 70 this year)
Finishes 13th in World Points (behind Rafa Cabrera Bello and Matt Fitzpatrick)
Finishes 26th in European Tour points
Gets picked by captain
Goes 3-1-0
Stenson got picked from 17th in the standings and went 3-0-0
Paul Casey has been picked from 16th in the standings, Westwood from 17th. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but the Euros know the importance of continuity, and when their guys were close, they picked them. Almost to a fault this last time around, but when something works for 2 decades, you ride it til it dies I guess.
🚨#NEW: Keegan Bradley sounds off on Team USA’s Ryder Cup selection process: “I’ve always been an outsider in the sport but I have tried to get closer to the guys I thought would be on the team. I feel like moving forward I’m going to have to automatically qualify for the Ryder…
