OP, if you're still interested, I went to Marine OCS in 08, graduated from A&M (was not in Corps of Cadets) and comissioned in 09 and got winged a year ago, currently in the FA-18 FRS (fleet replacement squadron, where we learn the FA-18 as opposed to the trainer aircraft we flew in flight school)
Don't know much about the AF but unlike the Air Force where actually being a pilot is not guaranteed I do know the Marine Corps has GUARANTEED flight contracts as long as you can hack it at OCS, pass the flight physical and score well enough on the aviation selection test, and make it through flight school of course. For now, focusing on school, being in great phyical shape, and staying out of trouble will set him up for success.
