I had a glass of 2007 Opus One and it was hands down the best glass of wine I've ever had.

I have little experience, but from what I've read and what Opus puts on their own website it's just getting good after 10 years and peaks around 15 or so.

Assuming texags is still around I'll let you guys know!

I have no doubt that the label is a portion of the price. And yes there are less expensive Napa reds, however, there's a bunch of Napa reds considerabley MORE expensive as well.

Plus the next ones I buy will be at wholesale anyway...

Personal friend owns a liquor store. He can sell it to me at any price he chooses.

I want that or a wine cave in my house. For some reason (that reason called money), I'll probably never have either one.

Our rule is that as soon as a kid does'nt come home from college for a summer, then we can use their room like we want!

My office now just has two wine fridges in it, but in the next 3-5 years it will be my wine cave. I'm already building some shelves. I'll post pics when done. Have several chilling systems in mind, will mostly depend upon my budget at the time.

Our wine cabinet is in our dining room right now but it takes up a lot of space so it will soon be in my office. The problem is that it weighs 500+ pounds (empty) so I'll need a bad ass dolly, and a lot of help! When I build a new house, I plan on a 1500-2000 bottle cellar. Ive already got some pretty good ideas on how to design it. That is about 10 years down the road though. Until then, I'll keep this one full and use my buddy's extra space in his cellar. If I ever get rich, I'm buying a wine cave in Napa. No winery, because I'll be too drunk and lazy to run it. Just the caves full of juice.

How about Sauternes?

I've just recently gotten into them and... well... wow. Like nothing else I've ever tasted. Just ethereal - very hard to describe - honey/almonds/citrus/saffron/etc

Got a couple of first growths and a Dolce stored up for "someday" - but I've tried three lower price ones and they were all just great!

If I let myself I could have a real problem with the stuff!

i've got a split of '07 d'yquem, waiting for a special occasion in about 10-15 years.

The d'Arenburg dessert wines are really, really good. The museum reserve muscat (I think it's muscat) is really, really tasty. At $20/375ml, it's a really good deal.

cecil... if you can wait 15 years i'll gladly share it with you. apparently the '07 is just as good, and quite cheaper, than the '05 which was thought to be the best year in quite a while. and it's only a split, btw.

It must be winery mailer season. I just bought Karl Lawrence reserve cabs, Chester's Anvil Malbec and Zin, and Match cabs. Time to out my wallet away for awhile!

Man, with this hangover, I'm never drinking again so that finders fee would be small. Ask again Friday after work and I'll probably change my mind.

Cecil, I want to say than you for starting this thread... I looked into Cellar Tracker for the first time as a result of it, and I'm hooked!

Today I added the app Cor.kz to my iPhone, which allows me to use it to scan UPC's to add or drink bottles.

On a side note, I'm pretty excited about an addition to my collection (no cellar or wine cooler at this point... just moved a couple of months ago, and it's still on the to-do list). I found a bottle of this:


Wife and I had it at Delmonico's in Las Vegas, and I've been looking for it ever since! took the last bottle at Spec's.

This tasting will hurt tomorrow, but damn it was good!
