How is it? I love a lot of Oregon Chardonnay.

I love cool climate coastal wines, and this one didn't disappoint. Oregon Chardonnay is great, and I hope it continues to fly under the radar.

Very nice wine at a perfect drinking stage. A bit of fruit left and very nice secondary flavors all held together by firm tannins.

And when you forget your Durand you have to improvise.

I love all the Vega wines, I think you could make a case that their Unico is one of best 5 wines in the world. It always delivers.

Vega harvests at under 2 tons per acre. About 4-6 clusters per vine.

I smoked the 3" thick tomahawk ribeyes on my offset smoker over mesquite for about 2 hrs until I got them to 120 degrees, rested them on the board for 45 mins then seared them in a cast iron skillet to get them to 135, they were exceptionally tender and the smoke flavor was amazing.

Surprisingly the Abreu was the best pairing for th smoked ribeyes.

The DRC felt like it was later in the drinking window than expected.

The Dom was amazing (1999).

The Arnoux Lachaux was still very young and primary, lots of tart red berries to start that were a little subdued after 30-45 mine. This wine deserves a decant but it was the last pull of ye evening so there was no time to decant.

The 93 was a petit sirah, very cool wine. Had some great dark fruit flavors, lighter wine than the 95 cab which was amazing as always.

I was able to get my hands on a 9-bottle vertical of Spring Mountain Elivette 2011-2019 in last year's marathon from last bottle - would anyone in DFW be interested in coming to a tasting if I were to open all of them? Might consider doing something this fall.

Anyone spent any serious time around Magalas, France? Any recs for wineries within a 30-45 minute drive?
jh0400
How long do you want to ignore this user?

No specific recs, but you're in the Languedoc-Roussillon. A lot of the wineries are smaller, family-owned operations that see little in the way of distribution. I've spent a bit of time in the south of France and have never visited a bad winery. It's not like the US where there are a lot of wineries pumping out mediocre juice for profit. The model of there is very different.

Might be interested and might be able to get other Elivette lovers too depending on timing. I could even contribute some older than you list.
