Colorado wine night last night. Well, wine night in CO, but with CA wine. There's a CO winery an exit or two down but I don't have that many heart cells left to try it.

I have a friend that I shoot a deer for every year. I give him a quartered deer, and he gives me wine. This is what I got this year:

15 years is about what I have left in me. I may say screw it a little earlier and go work in a remote national park, though. We'll see.

We were going to open a Champagne for NYE tonight but ended up with covid so we'll probably celebrate later in January. We aren't in bad shape, quite the opposite, but just want to be fully healthy before I have a glass or two.

Building a wine bar at the house bookended by 2 full size wine fridges. It's not done yet but they got the second wine fridge in yesterday so I'm doing an accounting/re-organizing everything. Didn't realize how much Saxum I've acquired over the years until I put it all on the counter.

Nice! We are about to start the construction on a new house. I didn't do a wine room but I plan to add a 200 bottle fridge to the butler's pantry.

Yeah. We don't have enough space for a room but I did talk my wife into letting me turn the back wall of the dining room into my wine spot. Still gotta stain the butcherblock countertop and put in the glass on the uppers, but I'm happy with it.

Very nice. I haven't even considered the dining room yet. That's a nice backdrop to a dinner. We just got the floorplan so I'll have to see if we have space in there.

Personally, I would put in some bistro tables instead of a formal table, but that's just me.

Several reasons:

1. This won't be a super long term house so it I don't want to put in the effort.
2. When we go to resell, there may be a limited buyer base for something like that
3. Most importantly, I'm way over budget as it is! Haha.

Trust me. I had grand plans for a wine cellar. If we had built 5 years ago when we planned to, I'd have one. Lots of stuff got in the way back then so I'm just now building. And as much as I'd like one, it just didn't work out on this one. But that said, I'd rather have the wine than the cellar. So all is good.

I'm also doing wine glass inventory today. It's ridiculous. Seriously ridiculous.

Mostly boxed up at this point. Had over two dozen champagne flutes (which I don't even use, I don't like good champs out of flutes), and a few dozen wine glasses, including tasting glasses that made it home from Napa since my first ever trip.

Here's what we are taking to the rental house (minus the boxed glasses)

Oh, and those are just the beer glasses I'm not keeping. Have a few boxes of those already boxed, as well.

I don't have quite that many flutes, but I couldn't tell you the last time I used them. We started using regular wine glasses for sparkling a long time ago and haven't looked back.

Speaking of glasses, I'm tired of having six different types of wine glass taking up space in our cabinet.
Does anyone have a glass (or two) that they like? I like the look of Schott Zwiesel but am open to something nicer.

Also, is there a good place to sell crystal?

My wife has always collected china and crystal. I couldn't begin to count stemware. Let's just say "lots". Heck she's got 80+ place settings of fine china. (which we never use, of course).
