Trying my first Scavino single vineyard Barolo. Probably unwise since it is bottle #2 and I just ate spicy Szechuan, but we'll see how it goes!

Benchmark shipping to Texas now? I bought something from them years ago and had to send it to my in-laws in Louisiana.BSD said:
www.wine-searcher.com is a good place to start.
I also use Benchmark Wines and Winebid.
K&L won't ship to Texas, so that's a big bummer. Winebid is best bet, I think.BSD said:

I like temp. and zin with smoked meats... the brighter red fruit hits my palate well in combocecil77 said:
Tempranillo is BBQ wine. Heck, the books even say so.
Especially fatty bbq like ribs.
That being said, Shiner Bock is hard to beat w/ brisket.
I find that the bacon fat/smoked meat flavors that you get in Syrah pair well with bbq, but it has to be a bigger new world Syrah. Northern Rhone Syrah gets killed by the smokiness of the meat. The sauce can also be a factor. I tend to eat my bbq with little or no sauce, and a sauce that is heavy on the vinegar or sugar will smother a wine.BSD said:
Not trying to take away from your day (sounds like a good one) but this is something I've said to friends but don't think I've discussed here:
I love bbq. And I love wine. But I just can't do the two together. To me, and y'all's tastes may differ, but to me it's two competing flavors. Not complementing. Maybe I'm weird…

Question for the board, what's the best website/avenue for obtaining older vintage wines?
Looking for 2007's for a wedding anniversary.
I called both Spec's Smith St and Houston Wine Merchant, but neither had much.

Is there anything particular that you are looking for? I have a few 07's that I might could let go.
Where are you located?
will Dunn just sell 15 year old library wines to anyone that visits them or does your friend work ITB and have relationship?HTownAg98 said:kyle field 94 said:Pedro Cerano said:

Funny, I'm looking for 07s as well. I'm currently looking for 07 Tablas Creek Espirit de Beaucastel (the wines y has some but it's not for sale). I know I can get Chateau de Beaucastel because the person I get that from is currently getting the 06. I'm also looking for some 07 Dunn Howell Mountain, and a friend is visiting them soon and will see about buying some bottles there.
Go to Winex. com right now. They are offering old vintages of Dunn Howell Mountain. Might have to get creative to get it in Texas, but where there is a will, there's a way.HTownAg98 said:kyle field 94 said:Pedro Cerano said:

I haven't looked recently but I think one time I tried to order and they don't list Texas as a state to ship to.BSD said:
