i don't know if it really WAS better when i was a kid, or not, but i'd love to have a pizza hut pan pizza that was as awesome as i remember them being back in the late 80's/early 90's.

It was significantly better before they jacked up the crust. Now we only order from local places. I lived off the personal pan pizza Sr year for lunch since PH was so close to Blocker.

Always loved going out to for sit down at Pizza Hut or Pizza Inn. Shakey's was fun too.

Godfather's Pizza was epic.

Circa 1990 Wild -n- Wooly Wednesday at Double Daves, when the Peproni Rolz had more than 4 pepperonis in them and it was all the beer you could drink and all the buffet you could eat for like $9.00.

Glad someone mentioned Bennigan's Monte Cristo . . .we always went for the Potato Skins as well.

There was a place called Hill's Pier 19 near the Elissa and the Seaport Museum and our Dad would take us there every trip down. They were really big Galveston folks. We would eat Chicken Fried Steak, toss leftover fries to the gulls, and watch those massive tanker ships dock.

I was sad to see it go.

Almost included that on my list. I'm sure the food wasn't great, but, I was always sad I had to take my kids to Chuckie when I had such great memories of Crystal's Pizza as a kid

Cartoon Theater was everything

I had no idea they were in business anymore. I see there is one in Katy as well. Might have to stop in there next time I'm out that way!

There was a Godfather's pizza on Ft Sam Houston for a while. Seemed so random when I first saw it but seemed almost identical to what I remembered as a kid.

A 1980's Chili's Burger

Early Chili's -- circa 1978-82 -- was awesome.

Delicious soft tacos, chili, great burgers -- the Oldtimer with cheese and Rojo burger were my favorites -- and chips and salsa. And that was about it.

Simple menu. Great food. One of the first fast casual restaurants to focus on Texas/Southwest food (if not the first).

We used to go the one in Carillion West on Westheimer and it would be packed to the rafters on a weekend.

Kid: Mr Gattis buffet with the movie room. Loony Tunes or 3 stooges. Experience, not the food.
Suicides and fun dip at the VFW ball field

A&M: Only thing I miss is Hebert's crawfish ettoufee and pot roast, A Freebirds super monster for $7.20 to last two meals is also memorable, but not sure I miss it.

Allsups burrito is a good one.

More West Texas goodness:

Old menu from Taco Bueno -- bean and cheese nachos, beef taco, beef and bean burrito
Fried Cheese from Gardski's Loft
Steak from Joe Allen's
Prime Rib from Fort Griffin General Merchandise
CFS from Mary's in Strawn or Woodson Cafe
Spag and Meatballs from Luigi's in Midland

Hear me out

Late 1980's Golden Corral buffet as a kid was greatness. Endless mac & cheese, ice cream bar, etc.

The idea of it now grosses me out though.

In B/CS. Gina's Volcan and fajita Rita's Cajun fajitas. Volcan was really good. Not sure if the fajita Rita's Cajun fajitas were really good or I just remember it that way

Their Chilito is up there for me. Now it's called a Chili Cheese Burrito when available but smaller and like $3.

Taco Bell was the fast food standard back in the $.59/$.79/$.99 days.

Cajun Fajitas were on my B/CS list. I do think that they were really good.

Other B/CS memories:

Spicy Fries from the Wing Joint
Burger from Cowhop and Deluxe
Huge T-Bone from Country Inn in Somerville
Post-golf BBQ and catfish buff at Beetle's BBQ
BBQ chicken pizza at Cafe Excell
Okay Chinese food + Zombies at Imperial
5 bucks of anything at La Taq

Back in the day there was a restaurant on Highway 6 near the Bryan-College Station border called Rebel's. They served a drink called a Rebel Rouser, which was delivered to your table with a burning sugar cube.

I believe it later became Fajita Rita's. But Rebel's was always rocking. Loved going there.

Remembered another couple, the Wings N More by my apartment in College Station. It was at the corner of Texas and Deacon, right as you exit Highway 6. I don't know if Wings N More in other towns has different recipes or what, but nothing was as good as that specific location. The ones near anywhere I lived in Houston weren't as good.

Also, pizza rolls from Stone Willy's in the commons. The pizza itself was nothing special, but the pizza rolls were so good.

wings n more in bcs/woodlands are different from the ones in Houston. Started as same company but they split years ago. That's why bcs/woodlands are mark dennards wings n more vs wings n more n Houston

Seems like the Wings N More locations in Houston had different menus and became Brewingz, and the Wings N Things had the same menu and flavors as B/CS. Some sort of name dispute?

I don't remember all of the details, but basically ownership split and long fight over rights to the name. I think the wings n more Houston changed to brewings after selling (might still be one on hwy 6 in Copperfield)

Wings n more Copperfield is still there. Drove by it this week.

Our Gattis had an arcade room. It was the standard place to g for all sports parties, all star game meals, etc. For a while between my brothers and I, we ate there probably 3-4 times a week. My parents hated it.

Hebert's opened back up in Caldwell. Not sure if it's still going or not though, it's been probably a year, 18 months or so it seems.
