Had a fantastic lunch at Evie Maes in Lubbock visiting the sister and nephew. Sorry no pictures. We were all eating before I had a chance to snap one.

Love everything about Evie Mae's. Allows me to have some real BBQ while living out here in West Texas.

They do everything right. Sides are incredible as well as all the meats. Maybe the best turkey I have had, and I'm not a turkey guy!

It's variable. Weather plays a huge part but if you get there around 11 you may only wait a little bit. I eat here frequently and I usually only see 15 to 20 people in line with many on the same order.

You should, just went there on Saturday. Very tasty and worthy of the top 50. Not pictured are some ribs we got as well (and might have been the best thing we ate). Only disappointment was he's not currently making the pico de galio sausage right now, talked with him a bit and he said it doesn't sell well enough in the winter so it won't be back until March.

If I were to ever get in the BBQ business it would have to be a situation like Todd David's. I know I couldnt do it day in and day out for a living.

I've been 3 times. First time and 3rd time were incredible, and definitely top 5. 2nd time was awful. Was very surprised. Maybe he was overwhelmed with the new fame. That was a couple years ago. Last time I went was about a year ago and it was phenomenal.

Brisket was burnt to ***** Pulled pork was really dry. Ribs were excellent along with the sides. That brisket was awful though and never should have made it on a plate.

Wow. That brisket is so brown, at first glance I thought it was layered chocolate cake. Glad you had a picture to back up your experience. Like you said, I'm really surprised that was served.

Full disclosure, I used to be a Yelp nerd (before I had kids and had stuff to do) and I left a review. Still gave a 3 star which was fair after receiving that **** brisket. The owner reached out to me privately and was very sorry and told me they had some internal issues going on at the time, which is why I went back the third time. The thing that annoyed me at the time is that he was the one cutting the brisket and he told me he didn't like it, and then sliced it and put it on my plate and said I could have it for free. Franklin would have thrown that in the trash where it belonged.

Wow. Yeah a pitmaster of his calibur should of thrown that out ASAP

The only thing I didnt like is I did not order all that food. I asked for 1/2 lb of everything and got that plate.

Ended up paying 102 dollars. The leftovers came in handy later so i wasnt mad but def said to myself after damn they got me

Miller's in Belton today. Had the pulled pork for the first time, and it was a 10 out of 10.

60 years ago this was a Texaco gas station, and my uncle ran it.

I have not hit many of the new spots but CattleAck has been the best for me.

Franklins was awesome. Louie Muellers a few times has been out of this world but that has been years.

Not on the Top 50, but got a chopped sandwich from a spot in South Austin called Bill Miller.

$2.10 for a sandwich is an unbelievable deal in 2022. Good possibility this was really a chopped beef + all the other scraps of meat. Will eat again!

As much as I like good barbecue, sometimes a cheap chopped beef sandwich with onions and pickles hits the spot.

Ok, I stepped it up a notch. Had to visit the Cathedral of Smoke for Texas Independence Day. Much better chopped sandwich today.

Wayne is doing amazing work as always at Louie Mueller.
