McCollum is the right answer. Hoosiers will screw it up though.

His last act as coach was mother****ing the refs and getting ejected after a double technical.

His overall at Texas Tech and Lamar is a combined 79-123.

His last 2 years as a head coach he was 3-28 and 3-22 LOL

I don't see Buzz having a real chance of landing this job. The search for IU would have to be entirely de-railed before he could be considered. Also, I don't see IU as something that attracts Buzz, particularly if you consider how limited his interaction with fan bases is and how much he appreciates his privacy (he has mentioned this several times).

I can see him leaving for a place like Virginia, another college town with an average, passionate fan base in terms of sports, or another place like A&M, where basketball is third in terms of the fan base (after football and baseball) like LSU.

I think Buzz is a good fit for A&M, and I have mentioned this several times, but I hope he becomes our Matt Painter (Purdue) and stays with us until he retires. If we keep Buzz as our long-term coach and eventually make some decent investment in a new arena similar to Houston, Baylor, or SMU and establish some decent NIL for basketball, then we will continue to enjoy this type of success (e.g., 3 NCAA trips in a row, being ranked all year).

I think Buzz is an efficient program builder that does not demand many additional resources.

He's a coach that doesn't need nor want the spotlight that a blue blood program comes with. He works a lot better when he's flying under the radar.

Kind of like BCG

I can't even imagine what this place would be like if we had Iowa's last 15 year or whatever, all while a young hometown coach from Bryan/College Station becomes the hottest commodity in all of college basketball and like Kentucky or Tennessee is then looking at him while we spent 15 years waiting for our guy to make the second weekend of the tournament even once.
JJxvi

Then also imagine if like half the fanbase wanted another guy, who's ok, but like you cant tell if they really all just want him because he's the brother of a guy that was an All-American on our football team.

Villanova job is open. That will be an interesting job to follow and see who they can get. Talk Jay Wright into coming back

Another one on the predicted list. That's going to be a fascinating search. Any chance they talk themselves into the other Hurley?

Who are the most successful coaching sons? Seems like the majority of college coaches who have a son, the son ends up being pretty meh.

Scott Drew is one that worked out.

Richard Pitino is solid.

It's the ones that come up in the coaching ranks separate from their dads that have more success. The ones that have only coached under their dads and then take over programs seem like they always fail.

Tony Bennett would be the only other one I can think of that succeeded at a high level.

I dont really see an offramp right now for Buzz besides like Iowa or just quitting. Perhaps Iowa is in it for the masochism.

Otzelberger is not leaving ISU for A&M.
Hoiberg sucks!
McCollum is legit, but figure he has better options. He is an Iowa guy, so the Hawkeyes could be landing spot if he doesn't go to Indiana.

The only reason people are throwing Hoiberg's name around is they just guess he will be an option, because of Trev.

Yeah. There is a 25% chance Hoiberg gets fired in the next week. His seat definitely is hot now. His contact that runs through 2029 might save him for a couple of years.

after how many beers??
there's a direct correlation there, relative to the quality of the information....
JJxvi

Accuracy is not the point of that account by the way, its basically just a listing of all the noise that there is including wishful thinking, coaches trying to get themselves a raise, petty backstabbing, made up nonsense, and also legitimate information. It makes it more entertaining, I dont need to like Jeff Goodman telling me something 30 seconds before the whole rest of the internet knows, I WANT the equivalent of talking bull**** about what I heard over some beers on the porch of the Chicken!

Interesting considering the first four matchup, but I have heard/seen a number of national guys alluding this week that Texas' guy might be Sean Miller.

This makes zero sense. Why hire Tobin just to can two years later with a .500 record. Give him time to build at least especially at a MM. Wild stuff, maybe there's something behind the scenes we don't know about.
