They don't do that though right? Only the top four teams are considered for balancing the strength of the regions?
All we hear is talk about the importance of QUAD 1 wins - UNC in Quad 1 tough games was 1-12 .Don’t you have to win a couple . @UNC_Basketball passes my eye test but I don’t want to hear the committee talk about how vital QUAD 1 wins are . Obviously not for all teams I feel…

West Virginia is so bad it feels like a mistake
And conveniently after they announced the bracket, Iowa State announced their second leading scorer would not play in the tourney.Aglaw97 said:ColleyvilleAg06 said:
confirmed, A&M #13 overall. Iowa State was 10!!! Kentucky 11, Wisconsin 12
Iowa State as a 10 is as much of a joke as UNC making it over Indiana

If you want to put Texas or unc in over Indiana, Xavier or San Diego state that's fine. But no one had West Virginia even in Dayton.

Great job by the SEC schools in non-conference scheduling.
No. 76 in the Net though, so not as terrible as their conference finish would imply. LSU finished No. 89, so better than one of Texas' SEC wins.
At the end of the day it was Texas' wins over A&M (2) Kentucky, Mizzou, OU, Vandy, and Miss. State -all teams dancing - that likely did the trick.
When your best ooc win is #76 that's pathetic. We got ripped in years when we beat multiple top 50 teams.
Sure Texas beat some tourney teams…
West Virginia beat:
Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas, Iowa State
And in addition to their quad 1 wins (6) they went 4-3 in quad 2. Texas was 2-5. It's inexcusable negligence.
Here's the kicker - given they were #41 on the seed list, they almost certainly were in even if they lost to us.whytho987654 said:Heres the kicker, if we beat them they wouldn't be inColleyvilleAg06 said:Faustus said:ColleyvilleAg06 said:Reminder that Texas non conference SOS was #285 and their best win was over Saint Joseph's who was 5th in the Atlantic 10.AtticusMatlock said:

You did a helluva job but politics and money trump everything, The only reason we are a 4 is because we are in the SEC and they did not want more SEC teams in the lower seeds.ColleyvilleAg06 said:
Sometimes it is hard to compare across conferences because the resumes are so different.
But Louisville an 8 seed....
And UNC an 11 seed in the same region...
so only 3 seed lines different.
Louisville
KPI 16
SOR: 11
WAB: 17
4 quad 1 wins
27-7
18-2 in the ACC
wins over Clemson (N) x2, @SMU, Indiana(N), UNC, Wake
North Carolina
KPI 54
SOR 38
WAB 43
1-12 vs. quad 1
Wins over UCLA (N)
23-13
13-7 in the ACC
To justify just a 3 seed difference between these 2 is absolutely wild.
Holding you to this. I think we can beat Louisville. But, Auburn will handle them easily. Time will tell.AggieBB said:Texags Meltdown said:

Actually what I was thinking as well.
And Louisville knocks off Auburn in the 2nd round. Book it.
And they are healthy. Hadn't been in a while.dermdoc said:I like the sips. They have talent are are pretty good when they want to play.ColleyvilleAg06 said:Xavier favored by 1.5AggieBB said:whytho987654 said:

And does anyone think UNC and the sips get in with their resumes unless they are who they are?
And then conveniently, Iowa State release today their best player is out for the tournament.
It is rigged my friend.

Hard to figure this one. Committee obviously took the injury to WVU best player into consideration. But Devries went out for season in December and they still played well without him. Iowa State loses their best guy and it doesn't seem to affect their seeding.

Whether North Carolina should be in or not is a good debate. Their AD is the chairman of the selection committee but cannot be in the room when the Tar Heels are discussed. But it’s human nature that it doesn’t hurt UNC’s chances when other members of the committee have spent so…

Fran makes a great point. I used to coach high school ball and when we would do the all district selections, I'd try to be unbiased in my votes, but those meetings are all about kissing butt and such. I would inevitably side with the coaches I liked and who were good guys. North Carolina's AD could excuse himself, but 3 days of kissing but and building alliances could have worked in his favor.Zachary Klement said:Whether North Carolina should be in or not is a good debate. Insane that this is the way the system works…same with the CFP. Anyone affiliated with the schools should not be a part of any committee that is selecting the teams to compete. Why isn't the selection committee the ten best bracketologists who just live and breathe college hoops?!

Exactly. On top of that, he has to leave when the Tar Heels are discussed, but he could be present and be as negative as possible about any team jockeying for a bubble spot. It just defies logic, IMO.jeremy said:Fran makes a great point. I don't really know a good answer for it. Most bracketologists are tied into a media entity (Lunardi -ESPN, Palm-CBS), which opens a new can of worms if they are the ones who make the decisions…
