Even if he did put hands on her in self defense, a 50-year-old man that has judgment poor enough to put himself in a position where he has to lay hands on his fianc in self defense likely should not be leading a sports team comprised of a bunch of teenagers and young men.
The police report noted bite marks on her arm. Have you ever had a girl friend or spouse put you in a possession where you needed to bite them to defend yourself? I have not and would assume that most normal people do not find themselves in that position.
