Idc what he has done. We all want to win right? He is one of the best coaches in the country, at this point in A&M sports it's time to stop with the "has to fit our program and culture" bs. Our "culture" is mediocrity. Everyone here knows Beard would have us in sweet 16s or better regularly.

I don't think we should hire people simply bc they are a good guy or fit the Aggie culture. However, give me Buzz all day long over Beard.


I would take someone like a Dan Hurley (who seems more like a bold jerk, but to my knowledge, has never been implicated in criminal activity). The circumstances around the Beard accusation is too much.


I agree we don't always have to go after the nice guy coach. Where the line is drawn isn't entirely clear, but Beard crosses that line in my opinion.

I think it's weird that on one hand some people act like Texas is some kind of evil operation willing to do everything it takes to win at all costs and at the same time some people say they fired Beard, the coach of a top ten team in the country at the time, because he wouldn't bend the knee enough for Texas' woke agenda.

Can't be both right?

I wonder what rea$on $omeone in her $hoe$ would withdraw $uch claim$.

Even if he did put hands on her in self defense, a 50-year-old man that has judgment poor enough to put himself in a position where he has to lay hands on his fianc in self defense likely should not be leading a sports team comprised of a bunch of teenagers and young men.

The police report noted bite marks on her arm. Have you ever had a girl friend or spouse put you in a possession where you needed to bite them to defend yourself? I have not and would assume that most normal people do not find themselves in that position.

Yeah, I am not in the camp that automatically buys any story any woman brings at its face, but here, there is at the very least enough to point toward character concerns that are great enough that I would see him as unfit to coach here.

I can't speak for Honolulu blue, but I'm one that not complaint about buzz.

I think he's a good coach and I'm ok making the dance 3 years in a row.

Just keep doing that and eventually we'll get the breaks needed or have the team good enough to break through to the sweet 16 and beyond

Texas Tech has been through how many coaches since Knight? How much success have they had? Maybe we should be hiring the people at Tech who keep making good decisions on coaches without lining up the Brinks truck. The A&M AD office and their lack of due diligence is the obvious problem.

Our facilities are not terrible besides Kentucky and Tennessee we are in the higher end for capacity vs the other arenas. A new arena will not win us more games. Any thought of spending money on a new arena is ridiculous, we need to spend more money on NIL- not bricks and mortar.

Heck, why settle for Beard? Why not go after someone who has actually won NCs? Why not go after Calipari, Pitino, Izzo, Hurley, Self, Krzyewski, Boehem, etc. why set the bar so low?

This is the problem. You're lauding a school that is at best 2 out of 6 success rate. The coaches they hired are Pat Knight, Billy Gillispie, Tubby Smith, Chris Beard, Mark Adams, and Grant McCasland. They went a decade without making the NCAA Tournament.

We don't want to do that. We did that with Jimbo and look where it got us.

We've talked at length about this in just about every off season since Turgeon left. The best we can strive for is hiring an up and coming younger coach like Nate Oats and hope that he can continue this upward trajectory rather than trying to money whip a guy because he has won an NCAA championship.

Winning the tournament is a lot different than winning a football championship (at least for now).

I disagree being ranked all year is irrelevant. Rankings help draw more fans in and I think building the fan base is a key part of building a program.

I agree the polls aren't an accurate measure of who the top 25 teams. Too many voters only look at W-L record. But KenPom and Torvik have us at 18 and 21, so I think it is fair to say we are a top 25 team.

Uh we're 9th in size in the sec with six of those being 15k+.

The reason for a new arena isn't size anyways, it's better design premium seating that brings in $$$$$z. It would most definitely drop to around 10k like in Austin so you can charge more for big games and sell out more.

Had BCG stayed here I truly believe we would have made a final 4

I knew it was a mistake when he left for Kentucky because he just seemed like the right fit here at the time.

I feel like buzz is the right fit for us right now as well.

If he stays I really do think we'll break past the sweet 16 at some point.
