Portal has changed the importance of HS recruiting in college basketball. Portal is much more important. Wade Taylor was the highest rated recruit among the first team SEC players. It was a bunch of 3 and 0 star guys that ended up in the SEC via the portal. Pitino said last week he is not even interested in HS recruits at this time.

Anyone that knows Sampson knows that Buzz recruits almost identical to him. Sampson is just better at it and probably has an advantage resource wise these last few years.
