It's also not really THAT bad for us historically, the home slate is, but we've played way worse schedules overall.

Compared to recent seasons, it is pretty bad. It also isn't unexpected.

We were spoiled by Buzz's scheduling philosophy after (key word) the tournament snub. Hopefully as Bucky gets more established we are able to put together better non-con slates.

We will have to make sure we navigate this well as there are quite a few land mines for a team that wants to make the tournament.

Same type of snub can happen with the paper tigers. What good is 20-25 wins when the SOR is garbage? I guess we will see how it all plays out. Main fear is getting the team used to playing at pace against inferior talent levels and then running into a brick wall against a defense with a pulse.

Yeah I'm one of the top people on here for freaking out about our weak-ass schedules in the past but I think this one is fine for a first year coach. Especially considering Buzz got us booted from the MTE we were supposed to be in and that this coaching change was a complete program tear down and rebuild.

But SMU and Oklahoma State are perfectly good non-con opponents. They're both projecting as fringe bubble teams. Florida State and Pittsburgh are not particularly good but they're both on the road (or road-nuetral) so even if you lose it doesn't hurt you much as long as you don't get killed.

This will all be easier if the SEC is the SEC once again! Obviously last year will be impossible to replicate, as a conference but if we can collect a lot of wins in non conference, then hold our own and get some road wins in conference play, we'll be sitting pretty! Just can't afford any awful losses early on.
