Not that you all care, but I think this is a good hire.
Is it risky? Yes, almost all hires carry risk.
But just as an example, at UF we hired Billy Donovan from Marshall with 2 years experience, and he won two titles. We hired Golden from USF with only a few years experience and zero tournament wins, and he just took us to the FF. Look at where Hurley was before UCONN, Nate Oats before Bama etc.
Fit and upside matter more in basketball hires than football hires, by far. When you want to break through your current ceiling, trying something new is a valid approach. And hiring someone who plays a unique, fun style may bring more interest and engagement. Not to mention, he's won 20 games what 4 years now? It's not just a gimmick, he's a good coach.
