We encouraged Buzz to leave to make a play on Beard? Rather than Buzz throwing his name at any job open available?

Where are you getting this from? You wouldn't just be pulling this out of your backside would you?

I'll be cheering for Maryland and Buzz - since that is where my favorite Aggies will be playing.

Hopefully our new hire and the team he scrapes together will give me another reason to cheer as well!

Let me guess, you were a Tennessee Oilers fan?

I'm an Aggie. But I can also cheer for other teams in addition to my Texas Aggies. For example I cheer for the local New Mexico Lobo team - as I live in Albuquerque.

Of course, I would cheer AGAINST those teams (Maryland and New Mexico) if they ever played my Texas Aggies.

I have no hard feelings against Buzz, Solo, Payne or the others that might move to College Park next year. I thoroughly enjoyed the last 6 years of Aggie Men's Basketball.

I wish them well in the future - and wish you the best as well, sir.

Gig'em!!!

I appreciate that, same to you. Thank you for your service….my cousins & his wife both graduated from the AFA and are currently stationed in Germany.

I just cannot grasp why someone would cheer on a guy who has been looking to get out of here for the last 3-4 years and just left us with a fully depleted roster. Especially a guy who we paid handsomely who had only 2 tourney wins in 6 years.

To each their own I guess, but I hope he fails miserably there. Time to get behind our new coach who is going to have our team playing a much more exciting brand of basketball.

Can you just let it play out? I'm gonna guess the athletic director has done more research on this hire than you have. Are you at risk of losing your job if it doesn't work out? No.

Have you done any research on this guy at all? Probably not. If you did you'd probably realize this is a 180 from Buzz in terms of philosophy and engagement.

Will it work out? I don't know, neither do you. I was convinced Jimbo would win but look how that turned out.

If he's gonna be the guy, I'll still renew my season tickets. I'll support him. I will not throw a tantrum before his first game.

How much research did he do about Early?

Nope ... Buzz' teams have a super high floor. He can take average and get them to play at a decent level. His problem was that his teams don't have a high ceiling.

I doubt it next year bc losing that many players plus the Dawg Andy Garcia who won so many games for us was going to be a long year.

With the way A&M guarantees money in their contracts, would losing my job matter?

We're giving this guy a 5-year deal and he coached high school 5 years ago.

What a useless response; like A&M is the only one who does this. Isn't 5 years pretty standard?

I think it's pretty exciting. And once Beard was off the table it felt like the AD did his job pretty exhaustively as opposed to just throwing big checks out for someone wanting to coast a few years to cash. I'm already looking forward to the season to see how it plays out.

Buzz was leaving regardless. This kid is seen as a rising star. The list of options were really poor. This is a big swing at grabbing up a rising star.

A&M changed the market when we hired Jimbo in terms of contract/pay. And I don't understand some of AD decisions lately.

Many of you need therapy. What is going so bad in your life that you can't cope with disappointment in college athletics? I mean sometimes I get pissed, angry or embarrassed but hell by Monday I got a million other concerns and they ain't named Buzz, Early or Elko.

If its too stressful to watch and you have a tiny uncontrollable bladder then turn off the TV or find another team that NEVER loses.

Even better do us a favor and stop getting on TexAgs and puking out all your primal fears. Get therapy. We aren't your therapists.

I am expecting a roster rebuild in Bucky McMillan's first year, and I won't be surprised if we finish below 9-9 (0.500) in SEC games. Hopefully, he keeps us from falling below 12th in the SEC and builds the team into a great college basketball team.

Buzz left out of self preservation. He lost his senior laden team and had mediocre results after a season of high hopes with the best team of his 6 year tenure. His next three years were going to be tougher to convince critics than the last 3 years.

In the end he gave up on himself if you ask me. It was easier to hit the reset button and start over with a clean slate somewhere else than explain why a top 10 compensated coach couldn't get to second round of the NCAAs.

I wanted him as our coach. I felt he ran a good program and represented the school well. If he was half the coach I thought he was, he would have stayed and worked hard to proved the critics wrong. Instead he proved them right.

Not that you all care, but I think this is a good hire.
Is it risky? Yes, almost all hires carry risk.
But just as an example, at UF we hired Billy Donovan from Marshall with 2 years experience, and he won two titles. We hired Golden from USF with only a few years experience and zero tournament wins, and he just took us to the FF. Look at where Hurley was before UCONN, Nate Oats before Bama etc.
Fit and upside matter more in basketball hires than football hires, by far. When you want to break through your current ceiling, trying something new is a valid approach. And hiring someone who plays a unique, fun style may bring more interest and engagement. Not to mention, he's won 20 games what 4 years now? It's not just a gimmick, he's a good coach.

Anyway, Jmo. Good luck.
