Penn St just went on a 15-0 run. Lead now down to 14 points. 13 min left. We got a game again for Buzz to show his chops!

Edit: Maryland guy proceeds to hit multiple 3's, now with 9 three-pointers and about 45 points himself.

Wow, this box score is something to behold.

56-26 going into half, Terps.

Second half, 23-5 Nittany Lions.

Blowing a 30 point halftime lead would be so Buzz.

I was in Austin for that…

I hope buzzkill continues to fail miserably at Maryland. I've spoken and heard from a couple of people who worked in the athletic dept and none of them had anything good to say about him. That he is an a-hole and the public persona he puts on is smoke and mirrors.

Plus, he tried to hurt our basketball team as much as he could because he knew he was gone after last year and literally left us with one player who chose not to follow him. Screw that guy.

Buzz not letting his star guy get the scoring record of 45 points. Bunch of other guys shooting the majority of the final shots for Maryland despite him on the court and fans begging for the record; kid finishes with 43. Fans boo a little as clock dwindled down, wanting the record.

I don't get this idea that he tried to torpedo our program. The game is the game.

There's lots of perfectly good reasons not to like the guy, that one is weird.

I think people conflate "torpedoing the program" with simply being negligent because he had one foot out of the door.

My only problem with Buzz was just his not caring about the program or what would happen in the wake of his exit. Even that, though, is hard to fault someone for. Sometimes coaches have a transactional relationship with their schools and administrators.

26 point win.

Maryland got their first conference win under Buzz Williams!!!

I, for one, will always cheer for Aggies - even after they have moved on (whether graduating or not).

Maybe i am the only one who feels this way, but I believe that Buzz did alot to make Aggie Men's Basketball FUN and relevant again after the disappointment of the Billy Kennedy regime (even when considering 2 good seasons under Kennedy out of 8 years here).

I will always be thankful for the effort and toughness shown by Buzz's teams and players during his time representing Texas A&M.

I am excited about Bucky and the new team - one that appears to be exhibiting a different kind of toughness and skillset with a very different style of play. I hope they continue to represent Texas A&M in a positive manner.

Buzz is not an Aggie…never was. Penn State really really sucks. Anyone who thinks this is a big deal for buzz is clueless. Penn State may lose to Rutgers…that's how bad they are

I'm not sure any coach would care much about the program they're leaving

You're right. Buzz is not an Aggie - but I contend he represented Aggies well during his tenure as our head basketball coach.

Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington were Aggies. Like others, I wish they had stayed here (like McDermott did), but we all know how the portal and NIL as well as relationships with coaches can influence the decisions of young college athletes.

I suspect that, even if Penn State is the worst team in college basketball, that the Maryland players and fans are glad to finally get that first win.

Well said. I have no ill will for Buzz and am greatful for what he did for Aggie Basketball considering the trainwreck he inherited from Billy Kennedy. There is no doubt in my mind that Buzz did leave us in better shape than what he was left with from Kennedy.

With that said, I am excited at the new direction of our program and hope we continue winning under Bucky.

It was an A+ hire with like B-ish results. He won a lot of games and brought the program back to consistent national relevancy. He did what we wanted except for that legit tourney breakthrough. I get he's easy to make fun of but I can't legit comprehend the people that say "he's a terrible coach and his tenure sucked" when it's objectively not true. Three tourneys in a row isn't something to slouch at at a non-hoops school

I don't hate him like some do. I personally enjoyed his tenure. That core group of players he coached had a bunch of massive wins and were very fun to cheer for (think a lot of that was the core weren't all one year rentals like a lot of teams now)

I was in school during th BK era. The Caruso senior year team was fun but it was overall uncompetitive for long long stretches. He had a losing SEC record

I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

Buzz did well here as far as making us somewhat respectable on a mostly consistent basis since BCG. Unfortunately he didn't win where it really mattered:

0 conference titles
2 NCAA tournament wins
Lost in the nit championship game to an intern coach

Bucky has already shown we are very fortunate Buzz did what he does and left. We are in much better shape in the short term and long term. It is amazing having a head bball coach who wants to recruit elite talent on a consistent basis and get involved with the school

Edit, two NCAA wins

"Win when it mattered" remains the dumbest saying ever typed on a fan site

They all matter. You don't play in the "ones that matter" if you lose the others that "don't matter"

Lol. Yep, beating south Central technical institute of technology the second game of the dwason is the same as winning a game in the final four.

This wins almost nothing. Penn st. Is bad.
At least they won't be in last place.
Buzz wasn't a bad guy, he was really weird. Most players liked him, he didn't care about the fans, school or school administrators which made him a marginal worth while coach. His record wasn't that good. It was time for him for him to move on.
He never intended to stay beyond last year, it was good that he left because he would have been fired after this year.

Buzz is NOT an Aggie, period.

Since I've been following aTm sports the only coaches that I would consider Aggies due to their buy-in, understanding and respect for Aggie tradition and culture, caring about the program as an A&M program and not their program, commitment, respect for and reaching out to and being part of the community, etc. would be:

Jackie
RC
Mike Sherman
Elko (early days but I believe so)

Mark Johnson in baseball

Pat Henry

Coach G (soccer)

There may be some of the "Olympic" sports coaches just not aware of them enough.

Billy Gillespie COULD have been but chose otherwise.

Regardless, it is already abundantly clear that Bucky >>>>>>>>> Buzz in terms of talent evaluation and coaching.

Buzz is big on bonding with the fans and making them feel a part of team bus one.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't root against Buzz, but for some reason do enjoy him struggling at Maryland. Oh well, only 4 or 5 more years Maryland has to put up with him. That's the book on Buzz.

David Coit hit a record nine three pointers for Maryland today. I wonder if he's similar to Q who Buzz finally decided to start midway through the season. Q was easily the best player on the team that year and we ended up missing the tourney despite his great play in second half of season.

Tom Chandler and Mark Jonson - baseball
