No one has given a coherent reason why he goes back out in the 8th. I get the 7th, two outs, bases loaded. He doesn't trust anyone else.

In the 8th give one of the kids a chance to get real experience, build em up. If he doesn't trust any of them in that situation that is a problem. That's my take

I haven't seen anybody give you the baseball reason so here it is:

Once you've made the decision the bases loaded 2 out situation was when you needed him, you might as well give him the 3 outs in the 8th too because those 10-15 pitches are insignificant to his availability now that he's already warmed up.

You have to keep in mind the pitches thrown warming up when you're talking about a guys usage. The actual waste in this situation would've been warming Asch up, getting 1 out, and then having to warm another guy up or count on Perry for a 2 inning close.

Aschenbeck probably started getting warm with Brad's 4 pitch walk. That was the time to decide somebody other than Evan, and I think Schloss made up his mind then that this game was either going to get much closer than 6 runs and would need him for the 8th or he was going to shut down this inning.
