I didnt see a related post and just finished reading the crappy article written in SB Nation Burnt "u know what".

I had heard ramblings about Del ****e coming after Schloss and Texas fans saying it was inevitable.

"According to Rogers, Texas is already engaged in back-channel communications with the agents of high-profile targets like Texas A&M's Jim Schlossnagle and LSU's Jay Johnson, two extremely unlikely candidates to take over for Pierce that nonetheless indicate who high Del Conte is aiming.

"I know how Chris Del Conte works," Rogers said. "He will want to make a splash. He does not want them to repeat what happened when they hired Pierce. And I think he's going to try to make a big splash."


Just goes to show how absolutely clueless and egotistical the entire fanbase is and all the athletic dinkleberries.

No way, and I mean No Way, that Schloss leaves for the school. He is likely their #1 draft choice but "we all gonna laugh at you!"

Ironically Jay Johnson may consider it after this season. Kinda depends on how LSU treated him over the course of the season. Been saying his days at LSU are limited (yes, eventhough he got a natty). So sips? Again, we all gonna laugh at you if you hire him.

I believe their most likely successful hire is Van Horn. One of the best regular season coaches that completely flames out in the CWS. Predictable. And many Arkansas fans would drive his U-haul fan happily to Austin for him. But Van Horn would get Del Cuunte the splash he wants...just not necessary the outcomes he wants. Yep, not a Van Horn believer either.

Love watching the sips sweat in their hopes to not be rejected over and over again. But they will certainly help some top target coaches strengthen their contracts, no doubt.

And of course the article completely fails to mention the ass kickings Texas A&M has given Pierce and sip nation. That was so intentional to avoid. Makes me laugh even more.

And they'll get neither. They'll end up with their 5th or 6th choice like basketball and football. Schloss is the only one of those two that matter to me anyway though.

Tells me the sips contacted his agent. Thus they have already moved on to the next few guys.

Did Texas fire their coach? Also a few highly regarded baseball experts said Schloss is staying. Don't let this noise in. Schloss knows this is a special place and he knows he can win a championship here!

They're still mentally living in the 90s/early 2000s when they were outspending everyone else (above and below the table) by a factor of 10 at a minimum

But that's just not the case anymore especially with us. Our facilities are as nice or better than theirs and so are our paychecks.

They can't just purchase titles anymore and it's making them crazy having to live with a more level playing field and I love it

I want to say "no chance", but his previous relationship with Del Conte as well as the slow progress on the stadium project gives me a little pause. I still think it's highly unlikely, but I thought it was highly unlikely we'd grab him from TCU.

If Ross was still the AD, I'd be more nervous.

sippie's stadium situation is far worse than A&M's. Olsen is a nice ballpark that is smallish by SEC standards. The Disch is a dump.

if i am texas i take a look at the kentucky coach. he would be a potential option. they could money whip him and his style of play is somewhat similar to augies when texas was at their best.

Kentucky pays their football and basketball coaches some of the best salaries in the country. Why would you think they couldn't come up with another million for their winning baseball coach as well?

Pretty much the only source I would listen to is Kendall Rogers. So (assuming that is the Rogers referred to in the article) my worry when this started was Del Conte doing all of this while we are trying to keep winning.
Nothing worse that a coaching hire distraction right now but tu will do whatever it can to have its name mentioned this weekend while sitting at home.

I mean, Del Conte would be stupid not to at least ask…. But I'm sure it was a quick conversation with the agent that was best summed up with "is there any dollar amount that you would leave a&m to restart at tu for?".

Vitello would be a great hire but I'm not so sure they could pull him.

I'm betting they get the Clemson coach. And he is really solid

my response would be similar to if it was us chasing another coach from a program like kentucky. the resource available at a texas a&m or texas are different than a kentucky in baseball or football. not basketball. both the ags and texas have more available money than kentucky.

i don't have the back story in his history so this might be a no go but he is a good coach that has a similar style to augie garrido and he isn't at a LSU, TAMU, Florida type school.

Sounds like it'll be closer to $80 million.

But whatever it takes, pay it. Schloss has already accomplished more than every football and basketball coach we've had post 1939. I don't care if baseball is technically a non revenue sport. He is building a monster and we better embrace that.

No pay membership here but I think you're referring to a tweet reply from April or May(?).
I still don't think Texas has much of a chance but they can meddle and will use their media people to stir the pot. They would want nothing more than for "Schloss to Texas" be a (even small) rumor during the CWS.
