Am I being dramatic? This hire is the most important athletic hire in the history of men's Texas A & M sports.

Let me lay out my case:

1) This sucks

2) He's a great coach; losing him to them hurts.

3) The way he did this has irreparably harmed his reputation but if he wins ( which he likely will ) none of this will matter.

4) The reality is the perception that we are little brother has always been there for better or worse. It's not going away, but I think it is not an understatement that this hire will have ripple effects across other sports and the sporting world in general. Do we really think that a recruit considering us or them won't remember this that arguably a top 5 coach in their respective sport chose them over us.

5) We have to absolutely nail this. It has to be the biggest fish. I don't know who that is. Honestly, it has to be Vitello or Corbin. Perhaps Forbes at UNC.

That's it. There are repercussions far beyond baseball if we don't get this right. Vitello would be an absolute **** you right back at them. Game on.

I don't think a baseball hire will ever be the most important hire in the history of school sports for any SEC team outside of, perhaps, Vandy.

If you don't believe that, just look at the supposed impact of the Jimbo firing on the baseball program. It's a different level of $$$.

Seriously, if we could get a big salacious court case about the interference NIL is causing in the college game out there it might convince a new Congress to finally move its ass.

I think at the end of the day money blah blah blah tradition, CDC, blah blah blah- it won't be about any of that- if he moves it's just because he doesn't like **** and feels about them like most on this board do.

I think this is it. I dont think he ever liked it here. The overreaction to the newspaper, complaining about one thing or another constantly. I dont ever expect our coaches to buy all the way in and become Aggies, but I think Jim ended up with something resembling disdain for our fanbase. Some folks have thrown out Turgeon 2.0, and I think that is apt. There was just always an air of superiority towards us.
Can anyone post a link to the "newspaper" incident?

It was after he lost a midweek game to a **** opponent. I remember wishing he worried about the game as much as he did a fan with a newspaper.
It was when we got swept by freakin' Portland last year.
https://www.on3.com/college/texas-am-aggies/news/watch-jim-schlossnagle-hammers-aggie-fans-over-disloyal-behavior/
"I believe in 'em. I believe in 'em. I've been telling him the whole time, I believe in 'em," Schlossnagle said. "This is a tough game. We get our own fans yelling at our players over the dugout. I don't what kind of place this is but I thought there was some Aggie loyalty around here. I've got a dude holding up a frickin' newspaper on one of the dance teams over on the other side. But I don't know. I need to keep my mouth shut but I'm excited for our team, excited for the crowd, happy for the core. The crowd played a big role in the game long as they keep cheering for our guys."
If he's butthurt over a single guy holding up a newspaper as we're getting swept by an inferior team, he's totally unprepared for the reaction he's gonna get by the tu faithful when he stubs his toe in Disch Faulk. He's going to the school with the most fair weather fans in existence.

I agree as much as anyone that this stinks and was handled poorly and rules were likely broken, but the FACT remains....

THERE ARE MUCH BETTER COACHES OUT THERE THAN JIM SCHLONGNAGLE.

Turgeon was a complainer, but he loved A&M, even football, and never in a million years would have left a team on cusp of winning a national championship. Turgeon only complained about things in basketball that baseball has in spades, and only left because he felt Marylands basketball was on a different level that he might not be able to lift A&M above.

Someone mentioned it earlier, can't remember who or which thread. When CDC left TCU, Schloss lost his cover and his wingman. Childress was let go and Schloss called Bjork expressing interest...ultimately got the job. He was just biding his time until his buddy could migrate him to texas.

I was told 10 @3.5 per on Schloss last week
I was told that Pierce is a jackass that everyone hates and would never do what he was supposed to do at Texas winning wise.
Also- I think there might be a couple rumors you hear coming out of college station about Schloss if he moves on. I'm very interested to see what their reaction is and if they say some of this stuff. I'm damn sure not going to be the first guy to go public with it, especially if he ends up at UT- but if it gets out and becomes a thing I will confirm that's what I'm talking about here.
I think at the end of the day money blah blah blah tradition, CDC, blah blah blah- it won't be about any of that- if he moves it's just because he doesn't like **** and feels about them like most on this board do.
These are 3 different people- all of whom know things but are not connected to UT in any official capacity. Nor are they connected to IT- for those that know I sponsor some **** over there- this is independent of anything they are saying.

What company is he referring to that sponsors stuff on texags (if I'm reading that right)? I want that blasted out so I can make sure to boycott whatever product it is and spread it to all my Aggie brethren

Money is the biggest issue.

But it's all connected.

The perception that this creates in that they can just big di*k us around has already been there for decades. This perpetuates that.

And I think the ripple effects that this will create will affect support on both sides in the short term.

In the long term, I think this has the real potential to be an inflection point for who we aspire to be as an athletics department, and who we really are. It's as simple as that.

Recruits are watching. The whole state is watching. The SEC is watching. Has TAMU really always really been little brother? This hire will either perpetuate that narrative that we are always who everyone thinks we are(second fiddle in this state), or say very loudly and clearly we are not be fuc*ed with. The hiring of Jimbo was the latter. It didn't work out, but I have always said I commended us for going after it. It is the only way.

Schloss could demand MORE MONEY from TU if he was a national champion rather than a runner up.

he has ZERO reason to want to deliberately tank a national title.

not to mention he would be one of the few to win multiple titles at different universities.

don't buy it.

Totally false. Tu pays more if he talks us. Use your head.

"Proxy" is the key word here. Third parties can certainly contact players at any time. I would think that would include non-captive NIL operations which might be loosely associated with the Longhorns.

Unless Schloss or A&M staff gave the burner phones to the students and/or communications between Schloss and those proxy's was coordinated, I'm not sure where this goes.

But if Schloss was telling our player during the season and during CWS that he was leaving for Austin and at the same time NIL people from Austin were contacting our players (via burner phones), that is underhanded to say the least.

If our AD had any balls he'd have the NCAA down here immediately opening up an investigation of serious infractions.

What we need is one concrete piece of evidence to begin the avalanche.

Burner phones aren't really burner phones anymore.

As dumb as state and federal government are, they know what burner phones have been used for and they do actively track them.

All we need is one player or anybody connected to any of this to step forward and state or provide evidence of this occurring before yesterday and it blows the lid off
