I would not put stock on Camarillo to the draft.

If everyone comes back, I'd give 3rd to Kent, Gavin to LF, and Bergevin coming in probably takes 1st. Catcher TBA.

Best case scenario in my mind (not suggesting the kids are on board or ok with this):

1b-Bergevin
2b-Kent
3b-Hensler
SS-Camarillo
LF-Grahovac
CF-Laviolette
RF-Sorrell
C-TBD

DH-Schott

Guys...get to know these guys a bit more. Kent played SS/2B in HS along with 3rd base. Saying he is leaving id he doesnt get SS, doesnt say a lot about your baseball knowledge.

Kent did NOT like Schloss and we now know that is a common theme across many players.

Earley helps are chances drastically. Kent was gone if Schloss still our HC.

I know this much, he aint going to Texas.

LSU is giving him a hard pitch for sure. But I think he wants to be in Aggieland with some reassurances that he can trust from Earley.

Need to reassure him about a million dollars and spam him with an endless GIF loop of his grand salami at Olsen with the crowd reaction

Ummm.... No. And yes. If YOU want to personally give him a million, cool. But that ain't what he's getting from our NIL.

His dad earned 9 figures in the MLB. Of all the recruits, he is the least likely to be immensely NIL focused. Not saying he doesnt need or deserve a NIL deal. Just dont think that is #1 or #2 on his priorities

No official site has shown any decommit. Not saying he might not be thinking but he's still A&M on D1, 64 analytics, his personal Twitter, etc

Does LSU have a SS? Are we getting in the two highly touted fish?

The other purple school (TCU) has a short stop.

Yes LSU has a SS. But they need a 3rd baseman.

Again Kent can play many spots. He just needs to know he will be playing and where.

Thats not what that means. It means he has decided on narrowing to two options, with the final decision yet to be determined, based on draft.
Seems strange to unnecessarily remove his name from the portal if he's leaning MLB. Portal gives these draft guys even more leverage. But maybe people think we just have enough NIL that it's enough leverage. Beats me.
Maybe he really likes it here and cares about the perception is gives to other players and prospects?

Chestnut was the best hitter in the lineup during SEC play. I don't think you can just take him out.

I do wonder if Chestnut can play 3B if Hensler doesn't come.

I know he can, but I don't see Gavin coming off of 3rd. I think Kent is better at 2nd and 3rd than SS (as a player).

I'll go a little further... He's what I'd like to see lineup wise... I'm still assuming Wyatt is in CStat. (No offense to the incoming fish, if they beat out one of these dudes they have EARNED IT):

1. LH-Kent
2. RH-Grahovac
3. LH-Laviolette
4. RH-Hensler
5. LH-Schott
6. RH-Bergevin
7. LH-Sorrell
8. RH-Camarillo
9. TBD-Catcher (?)

Not knowing the catcher makes it harder. I originally had this rough order when I was hoping Appel would come back. Pretty sure that ship has sailed. If it's a RH catcher will we lead off a RH hitter?? Will Earley be a slave to the L/R/L/R structure the way POS was?

Sorrell at #7 feels crazy. But he hit .265 to everyone else's .300+. If he makes that jump he needs to move up. Can Ali make a jump pushing Bergevin down to a slaughterhouse of an 8 hitter?

It's going to be fascinating to see how this team gels together. And if Chestnut returns what role does he play? He's probably not an every day lineup in this hypothetical.

TA staff have directly stayed he wants to play SS and is looking for that opportunity. That's why I say that.

Questioning my baseball knowledge because I'm not using highschool utility play is shallow hence I gave you a stupid example of projecting Gavin to play a position he's unlikely to play again solely because he played it in highschool some. Maybe Kent doesn't mind playing a different position. J hope that'd true as I want him to stick around and am unsure if we can promise him that spot. You should know when I say that I don't mean that he'd be guaranteed that spot, but that's he'd get 1st dibs if he holds up to the competition. Plenty of coaches promise that type of stuff. That's why Tommy White went to LSU after all.

Everyone keeps writing Binderup off. They shouldn't. I think we could have a real issue with finding positions for guys to play with Binderup, Bergevin, Grahovac, & Hensler competing for the same fielding positions. Add in Schott coming back as a potential DH spot and it gets tough to find a spot if those guys live up to expectations.

Chestnut was a key sparkplug but he was never out best hitter.

And I don't think he has the arm to play 3rd. If Hensler doesn't come it's clear Gavin is 3b in my mind. If Hensler does Gavin still might be 3b.

I hope you're right. But of those players, two hit .300+ with 20+ HRs. One hit ~.270 with 18 HRs. One hit .230 with 1 HR.

Maybe if Bindy was at a small school he'd have hit 20 bombs. But I haven't seen it yet. I am not writing him off, but he'll need to do it. Hell Condon was a walk -on.

Chestnut said in his interview that he had the best BA in conference play, which is what I was referring to.

I'm sure he'll find a spot somewhere. Maybe not as a week-to-week starter, though. Might be great for PR if we get a good base running coach this time

and navigating the ego and personalities as well as the commitments and promises of the prior staff is likely to be Earley's first big challenge as a head coach.

Exactly. No I'll will to Bell, etc. Will say I'm have a little heartburn if anyone heads directly to Texas... Not in a normal year. I have no issues with Schuessler going there or J-Stew coming here, so be it. But this year is going to look awful sour.

In fairness to Binderup the staff seemingly gave up on him early. We're comparing his first year playing in college with limited PT versus a year long starter in Grahovac and a couple of seniors in Hensler and Bergevin. I've assumed Binderups defensive miscues early and Burtons early back injury are why he was dropped so quickly, but idk. I've got faith in the kid.
