Have many/any of their players entered the transfer portal to test the waters?

They had a high profile recruit withdraw his LOI the day after it happened and cited the coaching change. I would expect them to possibly lose more recruits, but not sure about current players. Haven't heard anything there.

They've lost a couple of recruits, they flipped 2 of ours. They have 3 players in the portal, but only 1, freshman 2b Dee Kennedy, has entered since the change. I'd expect Schloss will trap door some if he can.

Sam Cozart is a 2025 pitcher who flipped from Cowbell State to us and just flipped to tu.

He will push out at least a half dozen to quickly upgrade that roster. It won't be hard in this environment.

Ahh, thank you - I don't follow recruiting or these transfer portal things as closely as I use to.

It really sucks for the kids. How late in the season this process is. Some are scheduled to show up tomorrow. I don't really know how to fix it. Just seems unfair to the kids.

I mean room in the lineup, not the roster.

Belyeu is an outfielder. Our likely outfield based on that we saw in the CWS is Grahovac -Laviolette- Sorrell. So one of them has to ride the bench if Belyeu plays. That's my point. I didn't think I'd trade any of them for Max.

If one of them transfers, or Hensler doesn't, then we probably have room in the lineup, otherwise... ??

Have to wait and be patient….some of our portal guys are going to re-work their NIL deals, or see how they pan out in the upcoming MLB draft to decide whether they go pro or stay in Aggieland……

To make room for those incoming transfer bats (corner infielders), one of them is likely going to have to DH. If old man Schott can regain function in his knee, maybe he can go back to outfield to keep GG at 3B. If Belyeu were to also come in well then… those are called "champagne problems"

Neither one of LaViolette or Grahovac are draft eligible.

Hensler is a 3b that has never played OF to the best if my knowledge. Bergevin is a 1B all the way. None of them is going to want to DH because it'll kill their draft stock.

These are the issues that a rookie HC will have to navigate. Relationships are built and broken this way. As are reputations.

If their bats are good enough to start and their defense is comparable I would not be surprised to see us rotate players between DH, 3B, 1B, & LF. Bergevin is a 1B, but has played limited time in the corner OF during summer ball. Henseler has only played 3B. Binderup will factor in as well imo. He's only played 1B in college. If all their bats work out you'll have to rotate to keep them happy with playing time on defense. That's not even fsctoring in Schott, who has almodt exclusively been a corner OF in college and no guarantee of a fully healed knee. These are good problems to have.

We have a DH spot open if Schott doesn't get his extra year. But also you don't turn down a player like Belyeu just because of lineup spots.

Schott is guaranteed the extra year due to the ivy league shut down in 2021 iirc. The guys that might have their waiver denied are Aschenbeck and Chestnut who played JUCO seasons in 2021.

Their policy was to give an extra year to Ivy league players in 2020 and 2021. The 2020 year was automatic the while 2021 year wasn't for some reason. It should be guaranteed per their rules afaik.

The lack of playing spots is more precarious if Chestnut comes back. Will this push Kent to make a decision to leave?

How long does NCAA take to make this decision? How many of our first year bench riders stay if opportunities to play are not there?

Exactly. Since when did Gavin become more important in the outfield? He's going to be a great 3B for us and MLB player.

He's not more important in the outfield. The idea is, how do you get all these bats in the lineup? Since he is a utility player, and third base is not his natural position, we're just thinking of other ways to get more bats in the lineup with him in the outfield or at catcher or anywhere else he played in high school.
