Strange game. The Aggies came just a few feet on two fly balls from scoring 10 runs.
But a lot of ugly ABs, not hitting or walking.
It might not be a popular thought, but Cal-Poly deserves a lot of credit this weekend.

Haven't been able to find an A&M highlight on the ESPN main page all season despite being #1. Jack Collins HR went up immediately on the front page. Gotta hate ESiPN.

I wish people would stop acting like they don't see the problems on this team that need to be fixed. No one is jumping off a cliff, but it's very fair to say this team has a lot of work to do

We're supposedly too deep on the bench to not give guys a shot if others are injuredor in a funk. #12 is worrying me at the moment. If his knee isn't healthy, he should be resting and doing PT.
Their starter or pitching coach figured something out. We had lots of barrels the first 3 innings and then he ate us up. Credit to them.

It's a series win. Whether or not we're a national seed will not hang on a non conference Sunday game in February.
National seeds consistently win 2 out of 3 in conference. The end. See: A&M, Texas, 2022.

I didn't say we were toast (or those other teams for that matter) the SEC schedule (particularly ours) is brutal. So when you start to look at resumes down the stretch every W is important.
I think maybe it would be good for this team to have a wake up call. It's been very sloppy so far in the field and our approach at the plate doesn't seem coordinated like it has in the past.

grahovac's footwork is not very athletic for a D1 third baseman. too much reaching and his body was out of position on 2 of his misplays. good footwork beats the run home...

Today wasn't pretty. There are definitely areas that need to be addressed, but a lot of season left. Let's keep in mind LSU dropped a game to Omaha last night as well. It's college baseball. These things happen.
I actually found this weekend encouraging. With the exception of the 9th inning of game 3, I thought we pitched well.
Bats are frustrating, but that is probably the one area I'm confident will come around.
Biggest long term concern from me is fielding and relief pitching.

We're playing cream puffs and have only scored more than 6 twice in a game at home. It's supposed to be the best offense in baseball.

2022 I left the midweek game against UH and told my brother "we might not make a regional" because we were playing that badly … then we figured it out and made the CWS semis.
You really need about 15 games to know which teams are legit or not.

Hey, are there issues? Sure. Were there issues last year. Yup. And yet we survived pretty well. And newsflash: this isn't last year's team. The coaches will need to work through the problems this team might have. And they will. Hell, we could struggle next weekend in Houston and I won't be worried. Just like if we mow through teams next weekend I won't be crowning us National Champs.
