Most people can be vice presidents. Very few can handle being president

Basketball game against #1 Auburn probably had a little to do with that.

Love all the guys saying its too early to judge. You may be correct, but they are 3-5 in the last 2.5 weeks and conference starts next weekend. So please state the signs you see this turning around soon. Gavin Kash is the only guy I see turning a corner, being Kent and Hensler were already there.

Last night on the game thread many were complaining with the injury to Grahovac and Sorrell that there several players out of position and that is why we have had 9 errors in the last 3 games. Amazing how that has changed vs the sentiment entering the season when there was question on how we could get all these guys playing time.

more alarm bells thru 11 games:

8 stolen bases
1 sac fly
0 sac bunts

there is zero manufacturing or situational awareness going on. It's just go-to-the-plate and swing as hard as you can.

A&M's opponents:

10 stolen bases
3 sac flies
7 sac bunts

Can you do the sac bunt thing for the entire time Schloss was our head coach and see if it was more than 0. Because I don't think it was more than 0.

the takeaway is the 7 sac bunts by A&M's opponents

they are aware of the bad defense

This goes back to last year too...opposing staffs are well aware of our propensity/strategy to watch cheese right over the plate in an effort to work counts deeper, so not only are a lot of our guys not making quality at bats early in the season, they're inviting unfavorable counts to have to battle out of.

yes, for a team that is capable of hitting 100+ home runs for the season

but there are quite a few guys in the A&M lineup who are not sluggers

Yes. Its a huge problem. We're seeing a decent clip of fastballs/cutters on pitch 1 and 2 that catch a big piece of the plate.

Then we seemingly have no 2 strike approach. Its absolutely maddening

Yawnnn, another poster who's never hit a ball before.

It's not like the other sports, it's mental and if you're pressing you're not gonna have much success regardless of who you're playing. It would probably benefit them to play someone they aren't suppose to run over right now honestly.

Way too early for these funereal comments about Earley and Aggie baseball. Wow! Just wow!
I would agree if Earley inherited a gutted roster or something. But this team is stacked with talent and experience and is teetering on being unranked.

I still totally believe this team finds itself. Stop worrying, go to bed. Get ready for tomorrow night.

Not toast yet but we are getting pretty close to needing to worry about making the tournament at all which is wild to say at the beginning of March. Turning it around in conference play will be a large task to say the least.
You're not wrong. It is time to get **** going. But too many on here and premium are also being way over the top negative. Not you. You made a reasonable post-there are real concerns right now. Saying we are "done" in early March is too early just like saying there are no concerns is ignoring the product to date on the field.

What does that have to do with the other team bunting because our defense sucks?

On top of that, have any of our errors come on sac bunts? The only thing I can think of is Lamkin taking too long on one. I could be wrong though.

To be very blunt, anyone who thinks this team has been losing bc the head coach has never played the game at a very high level. I'm sure Earley has coached them to walk and hit batters and try to make as many fielding errors as possible. I bet they never even practice, right?! and lets throw out 2 of what will eventually be 3 top round draft picks on this roster are not in the lineup. Baseball is a sport the head coach probably has the least effect on the actual games outside of making decisions on pitching changes.

If you're one of those, when they get out of their funk and have a tremendous year please stay away instead of jumping back on the bandwagon.

Just because you CAN make a post, doesn't mean you SHOULD make a post.

A lot of people shouldn't have opinions about a lot of things.

For the 'Fire Earley' crowd, kick yourself in the nuts.

For the 'this team is toast bc they have lost x5 games early in the season' crowd, that may or may not be true - but no one is better off or impressed with your negative spewing. Go spend time with your kids and throw the ball around, stay off the web. Thx and Gig em.

I am not saying the team is toast and it is definitely still very early in the season.
However, the biggest issue is that it is really hard to get out of a slump if you keep getting kicked while you are down. I'm really glad they won last night.

Let's look at upcoming games..you've got 4 games before things start getting spicy and no real break except midweeks for the rest of the season. If Things aren't looking better by the Alabama series, its going to be really really hard to find a time to get momentum together.

The Aggies baseball is not done. If you know baseball, teams usually win 1/3, lose 1/3, and the other 1/3 makes the difference. Get hot at the right time and roll with it.
Fans that have already given up on the team and Mike Early are not fans.
Bless their hatin' little hearts.

Agree.

My assessment is as follows.

Starting pitching has been excellent even against two decent teams in Arizona and Okie State. I think the bullpen will be better than we think. Lots of talent there. Losing Stewie hurt. Hopefully he will be back soon.

I firmly believe the defensive woes will correct themselves. Especially with Kash at first.
An infield of Kash, Farr, Kent, and Henserler. Outfield with Jace, TK, and Sorrell. That is solid defensively.

What is perplexing to me is the hitting. Hard to understand how so many proven hitters slump at the same time.
Kent and Henserler have by far been the best hitters.

There needs to be a sense of urgency because we are in an extremely precarious position. The good news is with good starting pitching you will be in every game. All about the bats.

While I think it is too early write off the '25 iteration of Fightin' Texas Aggie Baseball, this is a "truism" for MLB that really does not fit college ball. Keep in mind when SEC play starts next weekend, the competition significantly picks up so I understand the apprehension but not the over the top angst of fans. The weekend rotation looks stout so that should give us a shot at winning weekends especially if the right combination of relievers can be found. Of course getting the bats closer to what was advertised would do wonders.

I think it's counterproductive to accuse people that are worried (for good reasons) about this team of not being fans. Fans blindly slurping down everything A&M athletics gives us without demanding more is a large reason we haven't won a big 3 national championship since 1939.

The hysterical reactions are overdone, sure. But then again the #1 team in the nation starting the year 7-5 is probably the most justified time ever to be extremely critical of falling below expectations.

I think we do have the capability and the talent to turn it around. To be fair though, the window to do so is closing. It needs to be turned around quickly and substantially and if it is not, the whole thing needs to be re-evaluated up to who our head coach is going forward. Pointing this out does not make me any less of a fan.

Absolute 100% unadulterated BS. Try something other than blaming fans who support the team through good times and bad. They are not the problem. The bandwagon fans, on the other hand, do nothing to support the team.

The same sentiment is expressed when Ags give millions and supposedly we lose because they are too nice,

And the people saying this give nothing,

Bizarro world.

Got to revamp the entire coaching staff to turn this around. A&M was just making a name for itself as a top destination. Another season with these coaches, A&M will become an afterthought.
