UPDATE: KEEPING THIS THREAD FRESH FOR OTHERS. i have dearly loved A&M Baseball more than any other program. I lost total emotion control as my entire family has so much invested in this team including interactions with the players and my boys.
1) I owe Aggieland an apology for acting out of sorts.
2) I owe the players an apology as they never gave up. 3) And most importantly, I owe Earley a deeply sincere apology.

My thread is an embarassement but I hope one that all the nasayers learn from.

NEVER GIVE UP ON A&M BASEBALL AND COACH EARLEY!!!!

I planned a very special summer around a Omaha trip with my boys and wife. Amazing to see, someone blessed us with another chance to see them this year!!

There are some big name guys I would want to make a run at, but you have to find someone who is willing to leave, which is rare. Schloss was willing to leave because he was going through a divorce. Kevin O'Sullivan might be willing to leave Florida, due to some unfortunate circumstances, but he's having a rough year on the field (might be a little bit too much like another big name hire we made from the state of Florida). The guy I'm thinking might be the best hire, Rob Vaughn, would not be considered a "huge" hire, and there are some other guys who we might hire who could be good hires but would not be a PR hit.

Earley sets the tone; hand picked his staff and his players. He had the Fall to evaluate his decisions and pivot. He knew the expectations, and played in the SEC. It's all on Earley.

I agree……to a point.

Earley was the coach that all of the players wanted. And Earley passed the interview with the powers that be.


However, something was lost. I think what happened was Earley suddenly went from the "fun uncle" to the "enforcer", and the players/Earley couldn't adapt to the change.


Both sides have failed this year.

Some guys are just not good at being the head guy. It's not just in coaching. It's in all professions. Some guys are good at supporting ahead coach that has a system in place.

I have no idea what Trev was thinking last summer. He had to lie to himself bc nothing I have seen from Earley tells me he knocked the interview out of the park.

I don't completely blame Trev for this hire. We retained a pretty good roster. The media talking heads names us #1. Was I expecting another run at Omaha? Probably. But for sure we should have hosted a regional and made a solid run at the supers. Now; we're lucky to go to the SEC tourney because it's an automatic invite. Ask anyone 6 months ago and NO ONE would have predicted this ****ty of a conference showing

I was only going to quote the fun uncle to enforcer part, but that was spot on.

I'd argue at times, losing isn't everything considering the context about the game and fight that was put up. We're 10 months removed from a CWS and this is totally unacceptable.

As has been pointed out on multiple threads. It's was just a few players. And NIL had more to do with it than Earley. Clearly by what we are seeing transpire this spring.

FYI, Trev is even saying. We screwed this one up right now.

Agreed. I think tonight might have been the kill shot. He's been given plenty of rope and yes, I know he got dealt a crappy hand with the injuries. But this program, this team should never sink as low as getting run ruled and no hit. NEVER. On a ESiPN national broadcast no less. The level of stench in this whole athletic department right now is at an all time low and I've been following A&M athletics for over 40 years. Thank you Trisha and the track team for giving us at least a couple of beams of sunshine

IDGAF who's on the roster. Yes I know the players are equally as responsible but as the old saying goes, you can't fire the players (although with their now-semi-pro NIL value you SHOULD be able to).
I've tried to remain calm about it all year, be rational. But tonight was the tipping point. Burn it down. All of it. Rip the bandaid off. We made a huge mistake (in hindsight of course) letting the team hold Alberts hostage by threatening to leave en masse if they didn't get "their guy". Well, here's your Shangri La, boys. Hope you're enjoying it. Because nobody else here is.

Head coaches make a huge difference in college baseball. They were talking during the game that Vitello had a really good mentor at Tennessee. Earley is too green for A&M and is too much of an unknown. He may be a great head coach one day, but he also may not. The good thing is Trev should be all over the next hire. He's got all the time to set something up behind the scenes.

I don't know Trev. But I'm assuming he was some intelligence or he would not have climbed to his present position. There's no way he is watching this season unfold and not questioning the hire. My guess is he's already reviewed how everything went down and making sure he learns from the mistakes that were made.

I think we are putting about as much hope in Trev as we did Earley

Let's just come out and say it. This is Baylor-tier type mismanagement **** going on in our AD.

We better wake the **** up soon, or else we could be spending our time wandering the desert for 30 years like they did.

Trev has taken a wrecking ball to whatever advantage we had since 2012.

If coach Fran hit me up with a newsletter invite and claimed that he was sent here to do so on purpose, I would probably subscribe to hear more about it...

We just hired a coach in basketball from a school I have never heard of that has high school junior varsity credentials in his resume write-up.
