I would offer Vaughn the moon to be our coach next year. Quite literally cannot manage to understand what is happening this year, but I don't want a repeat. We can't afford to keep losing ground.

I'll say it again. We don't need to fire Earley during the season. Why? Are we hoping someone will come in here and do a massive, complete 180 turnaround? Less than zero chance that's happening. As painful as it is to watch, let the season play out and, in the meantime, work whatever channels necessary to make sure the next hire is a quality one.

I love Aggie Baseball. I'm a sunshine pumping season ticket holding fool. I don't say this out of pure emotion:

Early should be fired tonight when the team gets home.

What more needs to be seen? This is the most epic disaster in A&M sports history. It can't continue. We aren't making the conference tournament, much less a regional. Time to cut ties from this failure of a year and start planning for the future. We have a guy on staff with head coaching experience that can get us through the remainder of the season. Let's start building the future. I'm sorry for him, but Early is not part of that future.

This will come down to if Vaughn personally wants to make the move. We would make a nice offer and Bama would counter of course.

They changed the conference tournament format with the additions of OU and tu. Everyone goes. We'll have a game to play at least.

And this needs to be done before the last day of the regular season. Doesn't have to be announced before the end of his current season but it's needs to be a done deal.

A big part of Earley's problem is that his pitching coach is terrible, but Earley hired him. Kelly should stop calling pitches. Let the catcher and pitcher do it. Kelly is terrible at it. The hitting coach is also bad and should be fired. Earley can coach hitting and be head coach. There is time at practice to do that. It doesn't take long to make a lineup
I hate tu. It's in my blood.

It's sad this didn't work out, but has been a complete failure. It seems to come down to Earley being too nice. Hiring his friends as assistants and making emotional decisions. Many of the best have to have their own ego and demand more. It's hard to split that line like Vitello to get college kids to have fun but also be tough minded with high expectations.

Chalking it up to "being nice" being the problem just seems super lazy to suggest.

I see a ton of shake offs from Prager - who is calling the pitches?

I wouldn't. Stall it. Make Bama scramble to put together a counter offer

Well, if Praeger is shaking off pitches to throw the slider that they are killing, he should sit. His slider has been flat.

This is the tricky part. Say Trev decides Vaughn is his guy. What happens if Bama makes a deep run at Omaha? How sure can you be that he is coming, even if his agent tells you right now that he will take the job? Since Vaughn is my choice, I will be pulling for them to have a great season…

…then get upset at a home Super Regional. I don't want to wait until late June to get someone signed up, but we will just have to see how it plays out.

I get they would counter. However, I would make the biggest push possible and use his dad in back channels to help make this a possibility.

Schloss was not waiting for Omaha to be done to sign with tu. Yes, the technical signing day was after, but the deal was done long before.

If a coach is willing to take the job, this can be done well before post-season. You just have to keep it quiet.

Schloss didn't sign anything before CDC came out from the cemetery. He didn't need to: CDC knew he was coming. And, he would have been violating state laws and NCAA rules to do so. As much as we may believe a coach is going to come, you don't know until the press conference is held.

Agreed. I think tonight might have been the kill shot. He's been given plenty of rope and yes, I know he got dealt a crappy hand with the injuries. But this program, this team should never sink as low as getting run ruled and no hit. NEVER. On a ESiPN national broadcast no less. The level of stench in this whole athletic department right now is at an all time low and I've been following A&M athletics for over 40 years. Thank you Trisha and the track team for giving us at least a couple of beams of sunshine
Let's just come out and say it. This is Baylor-tier type mismanagement **** going on in our AD.

We better wake the **** up soon, or else we could be spending our time wandering the desert for 30 years like they did.

Trev has taken a wrecking ball to whatever advantage we had since 2012.

If coach Fran hit me up with a newsletter invite and claimed that he was sent here to do so on purpose, I would probably subscribe to hear more about it...

We just hired a coach in basketball from a school I have never heard of that has high school junior varsity credentials in his resume write-up.
You've never heard of Samford? You new to college sports?

Yep started back in April. I'm affiliated with a big select baseball organization and it's was already being talked about through the Select Baseball community. They were working select coaches to get with commits and recruits.

Probably an unpopular opinion. But the players got "their guy." To come out and be this bad has to be on them too. The bat is in your hands. Other than golf, hitting or lack of is on you. I cannot imagine Early came in and starting messing around with swings. It looks to me like we spent the off-season patting ourselves on the back for going to Omaha. I could be totally wrong. But the players got the guy they they pretty much held the department hostage for with the threats of leaving if he wasn't hired. They failed Early as much as he failed them.
boysmom
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Early may not be the guy, but he is for sure not the one going 0-4, making errors on routine plays, pitching, etc. You can be the best coach in the conference and if your players aren't working hard and fighting every day you may have a losing record.

I'm not in the dugout or on the field, but from the stands it looks like some of the players could care less about not hitting. I don't see the fight that the Aggies once had. I'm not saying all the players, but some.

I could go off on a rabbit trail and talk about NIL, the draft, etc. But not today. I just want to see some grit in the dugout! And a player be a leader on and off the field!

Read what I was responding to.

Yes, Schloss and CDC had talked and worked out a plan before the postseason. But, the person I was responding to said Schloss had SIGNED a contract (or something), the implication being that the sips had a legally binding commitment from Schloss before the end of the CWS. They didn't. Of course, they didn't need one, as it turned out.

We can talk and come to a meeting of the minds all we want, but no one is putting pen to paper until there is an opening, and they are done with their season.

Sorry Earley, I wanted you to have this amazing story made of movies.

Fact is, you are a poor HC.
Fact is, this is a talented baseball team that looks like they suck arse.
Fact is, it was a experiment of pure failure.

We would have been better off hiring a coach with a lot of experience and tenure that would have won more games with this entire lineup at Texas.

I hate saying this but it is the hard truth. I refused to accept it as a lover of this team and sports.

But that's it.

Time to move on and if our AD doesnt land a HUGE HR hire with this much advanced notice? We are royally screwed.

I am pissed and this entire team sucks terrible. Let them all leave...every single one of them. PISSED. No excuses whatsoever. Clueless staff.
I cannot believe we let our best baseball coach ever get away…
we did not have a chance to keep him. Not sure why it is so hard to understand, but many on here have posted about him wanting to be at Texas. He was never going to be here long term. We knew it when we hired him and I have friends that played for him at TCU and they said he flat out told them one day he would be at Texas or LSU

How so. Clearly, he was liked by the team and was likely a shelter from big bad Sclossnozzle. You cannot always get the best out of players by being their friends. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions. The best guys for the assistants may not be the guys you worked with 5 years ago and enjoy a beer with.
He should have found coaches to supplement his weaknesses evaluating opposing pitchers to help the hitters and opposing batters to help the pitchers.
Practices have to mimic game situations, soft practices lead to weak noncompetitive mindsets.

I AGREE. Definitely let me emotions get the best of me last night. And hope I eat complete crow after seeing an entirely new team today across the double header.

Shocking that today is the 1st time we have seen what this team is capable of. Not sure why it takes a few months. And this could be a fluke....but it gives me some hope that this team isnt done and Earley can prove himself.

I will say that we made some Game 2 mistakes that really scared me before the bats really came alive. This team will not win as many series as needed if they continue making these errors. I do not understand some of the hair brained errors I have witnessed this season. This team played so cleanly last year.

Sorry Earley.....you deserve the entire season. And sorry players.....I know you want to win so badly. My emotions got the best of me. I have been holding in the desire to scream at the top of my lungs every single week.
