If we play like we did in the last couple of games we can beat just about anybody. Question I have if we somehow turn the corner do you have time to get back into this thing?

Didn't watch the games in full yesterday but heard announcers say several times that just the first win yesterday brought RPI up over 30 positions and acted like the second win would get us in top 50. Mentioned if we got some more good wins then possible to keep season alive. I'm sure someone will chime in with better information shortly, but I was happy to hear there was still a shot!

I won't get too excited about the impact of this win. While it was a wonderful win, this team has proven to be very bad and lack baseball fundamentals. I hope I am wrong.

We have to win 10 more conference games to be on the higher side of iffy and 11 would be ideal. Ideally we sweep mizzou and south Carolina and then don't get swept. That would put us at 13-17. To be safe we need a series win with lsu, tu, arkie or Georgia to get to 14-16.

These numbers are based off past seasons.

I'd sure like to find out. It was only one day but this is what we all thought this team was capable of.

Play like this and you have a shot to win every series here on out. Probably won't happen but if we did then we'd have 12 more wins in conference play. Win at least 2 in the SEC tournament and I think we make a regional, probably as a 3 seed. Can you imagine some host seeing this team, if it keeps playing like this, showing up in their regional as a 3 seed? Win the right games and make a run in the SEC tournament they could work themselves up to a 2 seed.

One of the storylines for the Rebels throughout the season was the future of coach Mike Bianco, who was under fire in his 22nd year when his team sat at 22-17 overall and 7-14 in SEC play on May 1.

But Ole Miss edged out NC State for the final at-large bid and won on the road in the regionals and super regionals. The Rebels finished the season on a 20-6 run, including 10-1 in the national tournament.

The simple answer is ABSOLUTELY YES.

If this team can somehow manage to play this well against every SEC team moving forward, this team makes the NCAA tourney and a shot to play in Omaha.

Complete and total uphill battle but completely reasonable goal. Good news is that they look to be on their way.

Take out S Carolina, then somehow beat Arkansas and then Texas and EVERYONE on a national level is talking about A&M baseball and we get back on track. Thats my pipe dream.

They dont have to win every series but do not have much margin of error in their losses moving foward. They really need highly ranked wins for RPI help.

This is absolutely the pessimistic perspectice and I completely understand (certainly if u saw my emotionally charged post after Fridays game).

But I am gonna blindly believe this team just cracked the code and moving foward this is what we get for the remainder of the season.

I cannot look the other way.....to painful and depressing.

Also depends on how you define get "back into this thing"

Making the field if 64 definitely

First round host we would have to get ridiculously hot 14-4 and that might still not be enough and seems unlikely
National Seed not sure if winning out is even possible but it's a nice little dream

Oh, we have time… if I know my Aggie athletics, we will start playing lights out, to the point we all start hoping for a magical end of the season. We get past hope into the certainty of making a regional, we pull off a magical win in the regional and go to a super regional. We are 1 out away up 5 in the super regional and someone starts talking Omaha one out too early and we end up choking it away in the most heartbreaking fashion. That's how it goes. We get just enough hope that things are going to be better and as soon as we are the most invested we can be, the Ags rip our hearts out.

More specifically, what RPI do we need at the end of the season to make a regional? I know it's not an exact science given some automatic qualifiers.

There are 31 automatic qualifiers. I think anything outside of the top 45 will be dicey.

If we can get the sweep against chicken it will be time to start looking at that
Three games under 500 with 15 to play in conference is close enough to start calculating what we need

With all 16 teams making the SEC tournament, this team technically has a shot no matter what.

We know the team has ability and heart.

Now all we need is a little luck.

May the odds be in our favor.

It's possible.

We're 3-9 in conference.

There are 6 conference series remaining.

If we won 2 out 3 in of all of them, we'd be at 15-15 in conference.

With those games including Top 10 series with LSU, Texas, Arkansas, and Georgia our RPI would probably be in great shape. Sweep Mizzou (not a given obviously), we'd be 16-14.

In conclusion...see you in Nebraska.

there are also intangible factors

namely Sorrell's injury

the committee will partially forgive the sweeps to Bama and Vandy because he wasn't able to play

plus A&M may finish with the #1 overall SoS

currently at #10 with 4 series left vs. top 10 RPI teams

Those 2 wins launched us from 100 to 69 in RPI. I don't think RPI is gonna hold us back, considering our schedule. It's going to be conference wins. I also think that 14 isn't the number since we added 2 really good teams. I think 12 or 13 could possibly do it.

We are out of time for luck. We need consistent, clean play each and every game. Some luck certainly would help get us into a higher seed!

Win our next 3 series and the narrative completely flips. I know...asking a lot but I do believe.

Historically the committee has liked to punish SEC teams with bad conference records and middle of the road RPIs. There have been multiple 13 conference win SEC teams with RPIs in the low 30s that haven't made the tournament.

2018 Kentuck 30
2019 MIssouri 31
2017 South Carolina 31

But those have been a little while ago and there are some more friendly recent results to give hope.

The lowest RPI on selection day with a losing conference record was 2014 TAMU & 2022 Ole Miss. Both had 14-16 SEC records and an RPI of 39.

For 13 wins, 2013 TAMU who was 13-16 with an RPI of 34 is the lowest RPI team to make the tournament. For a team with 17 conference losses, the lowest RPI to make the tournament was 2021 Alabama at RPI of 31 and a record of 12-17 (the only time a 12 win SEC team has gotten in).

We need to get our RPI in the low 30s to have a chance (not a guarantee) if we only win 13 SEC games. A 14th SEC wins opens up the possibility to get in with an RPI in the upper 30s.

I get your point, but think you might be misunderstanding mine.

We had all of those things last year but lost BMont late season. That was bad Luck.

When I say we need a little luck, I'm referring to the overarching Luck that means things like limited or no injuries, good umpires, good weather...catching the breaks if you will.

And I will be referring to it as Luck with a capital L from here on out.

SEC added 2 more Top10 teams last offseason from the Big12. Now a 13-17 record will easily get you in, and a 12-18 record would get you in if you had a good non-conference record.

Unsure if we could sneak in with 12-18 record even if we would've finished 11-9 including 5 of 7 series vs Top-7 teams.

We have enough time but it'll require a sweep of Mizzou, win series over SC, and then going .500 for the big series (LSU, arky, tu and UGA)

SC 2-1
Arky 1-2
t.u. 1-2
LSU 2-1
Mizz 3-0
UGA 2-1

That would get us 14-16 in SEC play. That gets us in for sure as long as we don't lose anymore midweeks

The year OM went on their run, they had 14 conf wins. Every SEC team that had 14 or better got in. That's our number. The RPI will take care of itself.

It's about getting hot at the right time.
