Good decision, unfortunate result. It happens, but Prager was rolling.
No it wasn't. You either walk out there and pull him or don't walk out there at all. Terrible, weak, not assertive and the result was predictable with 90+ pitches to that dude.
No, it was. Sometimes you have to look then in the eyes.
Easy for you to snipe though, so hindsight 20/20 and all.
Earley is nowhere near the level of head coach who walks out and has the ability to read a pitcher in the manner you are describing.
On top of that, Prager had given up 5 runs thru 6 and 2/3 up to that point and has been destroyed in conference play for a while.
He's at 90+, had given up almost a run per inning tonight and the coach gave it a whole half second.
Earley walked away because he was hoping Prager would finish it off to help his confidence. A real HC doesn't leave the dugout and thus shows his trust in him to get it done or he walks out and takes him out against his wishes because he knows it's best for him and the team.
This may sound like a mountain out of a molehill to some but it's another small example of why he clearly isn't the dude right now. Just bad bad bad.
