I think it is a way to battle teams from pitching around him. Also he has a great OBP.

He hadn't shown huge control issues until these next two hitters. I'm OK with Jace swinging away if he thinks it is a pitch he can punish.

Middle middle is middle middle if you're an above average hitter. We have 2 or 3 of those in this lineup. Go up to the plate looking for a certain pitch in a certain area and hit it. Doesn't matter if it's the first pitch. For a wild pitcher you just greatly shrink the zone you are looking in.

He had control issues from his first pitch. Jaces first at bat he swings at three balls. He walked a guy in the first inning. We've been overly aggressive with a pitcher that is struggling.

it's things like this that drive me crazy about this team. They are scuffling and fighting for their tournament life, but they can't hustle down the line on a maybe foul ball… It's not just benderup, it's half the team.
