The fragility of this team is a fascinating thing to study. I feel like the Wharton Business School might do it justice. The closest real life thing I've seen is when a healthy person gets cancer, it goes into remission, and then comes back with a vengeance.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I think getting a midweek cancelled last minute also through off the rhythm of the week. IMO we needed that win and to get some guys out of slumps.

The offense has been sputtering since the midweek before Texas so I think beating a big 12 team on the road with a good offensive showing would have done wonders for some guys in the lineup

I was thinking about what changed between the great final game win over lsu and now. The only think is the ninth inning meltdown in game 1 of MO. Early blamed it on lack of execution of the pitchers, instead of having their back and acknowledging his huge failure of management in the situation. I think that was demoralizing and they quit playing for him, probably not intentionally. That will get him fired IMO. The only other possibility I can think of is he was already going to be replaced and they found out. That seems unlikely because I think we would all have heard that.

In any case, something is terribly wrong because we aren't even competing.

Any time coaches blame execution, it's code for i have no clue.

Where are all the clowns who chirped how great Earley and this team was after the Tennessee weekend. This team and coach are what they have always been, baseball mental midgets unable to play to their god given talents at the earliest sign of pressure. I'd think we'd almost be better off hiring a psychologist to coach this team of elite talent. What is blatantly obvious is Earley is not that guy.

I will never understand why some of you let this bother you so much? And I would just laugh my head off at any Baylor baseball fan talking smack about this, they haven't done **** baseball wise since our final year in the Big XII.

Yes his stubbornness to keep Jace at leadoff along with not playing George is awful. This group with Jace at leadoff is pure dog ***** Run total in 6 sec games 16

I'm not sure there is a D1 baseball team in a worse position for clawing their way back to success than Baylor. Not only are they not good, they don't seem like they are going to get good any time soon. It's bleak.

Please quit making excuses for something that just happened that was as bad as any losses ever in A&M sports history. Mizzou is awful they are not good.
Sweep UGA next weekend or win SEC tourney...so not likely.

Crazy that they clawed their way back in the tourney playing against the 1 or 2 ranked teams 4 weeks in a row only to be knocked out by 0-24 mizzou. They came in with a team ERA of 10. I've never seen any SEC team with a team era of ****in 10...and they held us to 2 runs on 4 hits over the last 24 innings.

No other way to sugar coat that crap.

the Ags were swept twice this season at Blue Bell Park / Olsen Field

I think 1983 was the last time that happened -- when the sips and Hogs got sweeps at Olsen

I was positive but his lineup change and Friday. Ight loss to mizzou is a fireable offense.

You have to believe there's some kind of undercurrent here. We know that the talent is good enough to be top 1/3 of the SEC. They've shown that. But I can't remember an A&M team that has had such a huge deviation between best performance and worst performance in a season. It's clearly mental but what's behind that.

Probably just mental resilience. Some teams just can't take getting popped in the mouth and not fall apart for a while. I know. I've been on one. (Different sport).

Which is a just a reflection lack of player leadership and coaching leadership. I'm a pumper and even I have never been able to defend the energy in the dugout during a dip this year. It's a bad as I have ever in any sport ever.

Don't understand this response to what I posted. In no way am I excusing what happened this weekend. Even in the discussions about moving Jace to the top of the lineup I was only pointing out that putting a hitter like Jace at the top of the lineup is not at all unusual in the age of analytics driven baseball.

This team consistently played to the level of their comp. That typically happens on teams with no leadership. Players and Coaches

Clearly a so-called players coach does not work in this NIL era which is not surprising.

Mizzou didn't just beat us, they beat our ass.

At least 10 hits in all the games AND held our asses to 1 run in two of them.

They rammed our asses hard.

It is incomprehensible to get swept in a home series against a Missouri team that was 0-24 in SEC play before Friday. After we led Missouri 6-1 at the end of the 4th inning of Game 1, Missouri outscored us by a combined 22-2 across the last 23 innings (8-0 in the last 5 innings of Game 1, 4-1 yesterday, and 10-1 today). Consequently, we dropped to 27-23 (10-17 SEC) and have lost 7 of our last 9 SEC games.
