I'm not sure there is a D1 baseball team in a worse position for clawing their way back to success than Baylor. Not only are they not good, they don't seem like they are going to get good any time soon. It's bleak.

Rice went to the CWS 7 times in 12 years, won a championship, and didn't miss a regional from 95 to 2017. Wayne Graham retired after missing the playoffs in 2018 because of how bleak it looked (and arguably he was of retirement age). That 23-28 record in 2018 was the pinnacle since.

I'd say Rice is in worse position for clawing its way back what with being in the American Athletic Conference and fan appetite for NIL like Karen Carpenter at a buffet.

Baylor is in the Big 12 and will recruit better. It's hard to see Rice ever recapturing that stretch under WG. There are probably similarly situated schools who will struggle to approach past glory (Cal State Fullerton, Wichita State, etc.).

Regardless the antipathy for conference rivals is fun. **** green Baylor.

Trash!
It's a damn shame that I'd rather watch the NBA than this uninspired, underachieving group of overpaid students!

perhaps under the category of should-have-seen-this-coming...

in Mizzou's prior series vs. Georgia...

the Tigers were swept by scores of 9-2, 5-2, and 4-2

they were getting more competitive...playing closer games

winning all 3 is still a major shock. Winning the series or one game...maybe not

In a sport where failing 65% of the time makes you an all-American, and winning 2 out of 3 makes you a national seed, and you stand still for 30 minutes before somebody hits you the ball, and you wait behind the outfield wall for 2 hours before you pound the zone... the mental game, both individually and as a team, is every bit as important as God-given talent. This team showed a little fortitude twice this season. First, when they could literally sink no lower. Second, when they started doing a little front-running in the Arkansas series. As soon as expectations began to rise...boom. We are one Caden Sorrell swing from a total collapse the past 3 weeks.

Winners find ways to win.

We find new ways to lose every year.

We were one of the last two teams standing last season despite losing our best position player and best pitcher in the Supers. Heck if we had a coach which was focused upon the task at hand instead of his next job who knows what would have happened.

Apologies for my fixation...I just can't recall another sports team in my life that has demonstrated beyond any doubt just how critical the mental side of the game is. On the positive side, the Yankees dynasty was always locked in. On the negative side, the players crumbling under the shadow of Tiger Woods, perhaps.

Tiger Woods won 15 championships.

Wrong

A winning coach can easily win here such as Schloss did. Just need to get another winning coach. They are out there.

This team can beat anyone. 2/3 against LSU, UT, and Arkansas prove that.

Whether they have another 4 wins to close the regular season is one question.

And in my opinion, they don't deserve a tourney birth even with 4 wins.

But that's aggie sports for us and maybe one day the BELIEVE will come to fruition

We can also lose to anyone. Not the greatest combo.

Tiger Woods won 15 championships.

And 18 WGC, at least two Fedex Cups, and 82 total PGA tour victories. And Two or three maybe US Amateurs.

I love baseball, especially A&M baseball at Olsen. However, the reality is that college baseball is not critical to our athletic department. Football is because it pays the bill for the entire department. Earley was not ready to be a head coach. That should really not be surprising given how he was suddenly given the job and his relative inexperience. After considering it all, I think we should keep Earley, save the money, and get him some better assistants while he grows in the job.
