Schloss during recruiting probably points out how bad we are at the plate this year (last in the SEC) and uses it to prop himself up by telling the recruits he's so great that he was even able to overcome Earley as his hitting coach while at A&M.

funny you post this. i watched highlights on SECN earlier tonight and saw longhorn batters spraying the ball to all parts of the field. almost forgot what that looked like.
Texas' offense has not been good in SEC play yet we've somehow been worse. Who cares where he goes after this.

Why? They have a hitting coach who coached their hitters to be pretty successful. Plus, I think that bridge is burned.

We are dead last in the SEC in batting average, Earley is a hitting coach. Any questions?
I don't think Earley will end up there but he would be an upgrade over Tulo.
Texas' offense has been very average for most of the year, their pitching has just been so dominant that it's kind of skated by under the radar.
Tulo was actually demoted under Pierce and replaced by Longley. He was only hired by Schloss out of convenience due to how late it was in the cycle and familiarity with the players.

I'll repeat, we are dead last in the SEC in batting. Missouri is way better than us in batting, that's not being hyperbolic, that's the official statistics after a full season….we are DEAD LAST in the SEC, let that sink it….Earley's strength is hitting….we are DEAD LAST in hitting in the SEC.

I would imagine he's not nearly as involved with hitting due to being the HC as he would like to be. His track record as a hitting coach speaks for itself. It's a silly topic anyway, but I don't think he's going to have any issues getting a high level hitting coach gig after this.
This has to be the worst argument I've ever heard for keeping a losing coach
The fact that he would get a hitting coach position at best speaks to why he needs to be let go. If no one else will hire him, why should we?

We are a joke..this season was a joke..and now we start all over from scratch.
Fire Early…and while your at it..fire Trev too. I'm at a point where I say If we gotta rebuild, burn it all down and start again from the bottom
I'm not advocating for keeping him at all. I've been pretty vocal about thinking we need a change. I'm just not going to pile on the guy because he's been a bad HC. He's proven to be an elite hitting coach which is what the subject of the thread was.
Schloss doesn't need him. Did you watch our series with tu? Did you notice that their AB's looked an awful lot like our AB's did last year? Did you notice how our AB's were largely uncompetitive? We have no patience at the plate and much of the lineup demonstrates a poor sense of the strike zone. Whatever we were as hitters last year, it left with Schloss.
Never liked how he was out the door with Schloss less than 24 hrs of us losing. We overlooked it because he kept all of our players but it was still a bad look that he never really had to answer for.

Who effing cares? Schloss seemed to do just fine without Earley this year, but the opposite sure isn't true.

That's always the excuse for him and the assistants like if they didn't hop over with Schloss at that moment they would have never found another job.
After watching the tragic ending of our softball season and our entire baseball season, does it really matter who we hire as a coach?
Few claimed they would not find another job but SEC assistant coaching positions pay more than head coaching jobs in most other leagues. He would've been the highest paid hitting coach in the country, and only would have to move 90 min down to road so his kids could still easily stay in touch with their friends. I don't see the issue considering there was no guarantees he would've had a job at A&M at the time.
