Think I suspect the problem is my ESPN Select acct is tied to my Roku stick in Central Texas. TV in NOLA won't authenticate to ESPN Select.

How do you watch when our games are not on one of the linear tv broadcasts? (I mean the real ESPN, ESPN2, SECN, or ESPN channels)
Only a tiny fraction of our games are on TV, but literally every SEC game of every sport is on the ESPN app.
I would highly recommend searching YouTube for "how to login to tv provider on espn app". There are dozens of videos like this. And I'm sure a specific video for the exact device you want to use (iPhone, Android phone, Apple TV, Roku, Smart T, etc…)

I seriously can't believe this. I have the ESPN app and Direct tv. Getting SECN+ and Espn+ is literally as easy as linear tv. And I am 71 years old.

Well no problems watching SEC softball. Weird. Watching on a Roku stick on this TV. Same internet speed. Spectrum via router about 30 ft from TV. Sony TV.
In NOLA, AT&T fiber. Box is directly behind TV. Samsung TV. ESPN app directly loaded on TV.
YTTV on both.
Gotta be something with the setup in NOLA. May buy a Roku stick and try it there.

Not at all. I use YTTV and watch on the order of 8-10 games a week on the espn app. Zero issues except the stupid repeated login process.
Things to check (in order of priority based on my EE real life day job)
1. Actual internet connection. Can't go this route without solid internet. If your modem / equipment is old ask ATT to troubleshoot or replace.
2. If you are convinced the internet to the house is good, choc the network in the house. For most people this means WiFi. Again if your equipment is more than 5-6 years old throw it away; it's time to upgrade.
3. Streaming device. Built in apps on old TVs suck. Old Roku / Firestick / Chromecast devices suck. If more than 5 years old get a new streamer.
4. Sorry. Put up an aerial and watch Gunsmoke reruns.

Everything I have is over 10 years old. I don't get it.

Semiconductors and discrete electronics all have an average lifetime, which is based on typical usage and environmental conditions. Things such as power surges, lightning, heat, and many other factors will greatly accelerate their death.
Is your tv plugged directly into the ATT modem with an Ethernet cable? If so try a different cable because they fail too.
