Is there a difference in being in and being a top 8 seed? This game was necessary to secure a top 8 seed, or at least being competitive in it. We still have time, but early indications aren't positive.

While no one hates meaningless post season conference tourneys more than me getting waxed tonight will likely cost us a national seed. Well still host but you're getting a better 2 seed and a road trip if you manage to find enough pitching to win 3 games next weekend.

By being in, I meant safely in the tournament. We're more than in, we will host a regional. If you are not safely in the NCAA tournament, winning the conference tourney is the only way to ensure you get in, and that is when it matters. It was where we were last year. Had to win the tournament.

Winning a game in this tournament will not earn us a top 8. Not winning a game will not keep us from a top 8.
