Is there a difference in being in and being a top 8 seed? This game was necessary to secure a top 8 seed, or at least being competitive in it. We still have time, but early indications aren't positive.

By being in, I meant safely in the tournament. We're more than in, we will host a regional. If you are not safely in the NCAA tournament, winning the conference tourney is the only way to ensure you get in, and that is when it matters. It was where we were last year. Had to win the tournament.

Winning a game in this tournament will not earn us a top 8. Not winning a game will not keep us from a top 8.

I don't believe this to be true. We are a bubble no.8, and winning this game or being competitive in this game could most certainly be the difference.
