Weiner's name discussed on the Kelly thread…
FTR I do NOT want that traitorous ******** back. BUT, you absolutely have to float this rumor and try to get it to grow some legs this week leading up to and during the supers if you're the AD and Earley.
He is not traitorous. When your coach asks you to go with him to his new job, you go. Not even up for debate. If you don't, you end up with no job.
Yep. Hiring Weiner back would be a great get in my opinion.
I'm struggling with this scenario. On one hand I'd like to screw over schloss and the sips in any way possible. On the other hand, Weiner seems fine with the company he is keeping; which speaks to his character. I would feel better about it if he came here and it sent tu reeling and they cried publicly and he said something along the lines of "I had to get away from that toxic sob and that liberal cesspool"......one can dream

Even Earley went to Austin, initially, for the same reason. I don't hold it against him.

That's not exactly what happened. Weiner practically led the charge to Austin.
LOL riiiiiggght!
He is correct.

He was in on it during the CWS final. He and traitor were tied at the hip. He won't be returning.

Again, I mostly only hold it against Schloss. But we're kinda being fools if we think Max would want to come back anyway. Earley's job is just as unstable as it was 23 months ago, and Max has a trifecta right now in Austin: Good pay, good talent, and a stable position. He'd be giving up the stability to come back here, and texas will raise his salary if we try to money dump on him.
It's a fun convo but I don't think there's any legs to it.

I was told that Max was caught off guard and he had to go along. I was told Max was trying to anchor roots in college station because he figured to be here multiple years and Schloss used that to his advantage. Mortgage burden is hard to pay without a job… just what the FIL told me

That could be true, I have no insider knowledge. I thought the story was that he was one of the coaches that began early recruiting of our guys to Austin but maybe I'm misremembering and maybe the story is just wrong. Either way, he was just doing what he has to for his career and to keep a fancy roof over his head, like you said. What Schloss did crosses a line. What the others did is just the dirty politics of a nasty industry.

The night before the CWS final, I had dinner at an Italian place. Max and his fiance were at the next table and seemed rather subdued. Ted Burton's dad came over to their table and was just gushing about how much Ted enjoyed A&M. Max did not have a lot to say.Joe Deertay said:
You aren't misinformed. That was true from what I hear. But I think he was pressured to get his guys to follow him. I will say this, there was a lot of threats to release said texts… but non got released.. maybe a reason for that…. Idk.. but a guy who is planning on jumping ship doesn't buy an expensive house unless he is planning on sticking around for a bit. I could be misinformed, but.. idk

Earley is no longer considered a head coach in good standing long term. He has 24 months left on his contract, with a buyout that is reduced to just $1 million in 12 months. Attracting a quality pitching coach under these circumstances will be difficult, and nobody knows this better than the college coaching community. Especially when a significant roster rebuild is required to accomplish meaningful things in 2027.
I'm guessing Earley's agent has already come at Trev Alberts, claiming that hiring, recruiting and NIL fund raising will be next to impossible without an immediate extension.
Tough spot.
He gets an extension but with a buyout in our favor. If he is scared of that then can his ass now.

No insider knowledge here. Didn't the broadcasts in 2024 occasionally talk about Weiner being in a military family or having a family member in the military? I would think a military tie bodes well for A&M relative to the school in Austin. But again, this is me speculating.

Not correct. He was actively recruiting our pitchers and they were the first group to say they were staying.
He did have a house here but it sold quickly.
Sources: @GatorsBB has parted ways with pitching coach David Kopp, I'm told. Kopp spent the last five seasons with the #Gators, but this change has been expected for a couple of weeks now. #SEC

Just an interesting fact. This kid can't hit 90 but lives low. Our problems were typically mistakes high in the zone. I know it's big 12 baseball, and you just don't see slower righties like this in the SEC, but WV is probably going to make it to Omaha in a wide open bracket.
With that arm slot you're not going to live up in the zone much. And he also faced one of the worst lineups in the country. They have one real bat in their lineup.TAMU1990 said:#WestVirginia RHP Chansen Cole didn't throw a single pitch in the upper third of the strike zone.
