A big part of me wishes Weiner and Earley would return the favor to that colossal POS and work a deal during their stay in Omaha

Chase Van Dyk. He is a rising star. One of the most knowledgeable and hard working PCs I have ever known. Totally dedicated to his craft and someday soon will be a D1 PC. But he is only 26 yrs old and in his first season as PC for Blinn. This would be an awfully big jump for him

Dang. Was hoping it would be able to be announced tonight.

There are two scenarios at this point.
1) Earley has his guy and we are waiting for them to lose
2) Next year will be the end of the Earley era.

I don't think our case is as weak as you guys are making it out to be. Of course I'm always glass half full. Earley has 4 years of proof that he can coach the bats and our defense was competitive. We just need somebody that is confident in his abilities. With fan support, recruiting territory and upgraded facilities we've gotta be top 15 to 20 in the country. Maybe I'm selling it to the next coach, but I haven't given up on Earley yet.

Maybe already discussed, but where do those with knowledge think we stand right now? Is an offer already out, but the guy is with one of the last 8 standing? Are we pursuing someone from MLB? Are we chasing guys and getting told no?

The sooner you all realize that this is going to be a difficult and underwhelming hire, the better. It is not appealing to anyone with any credentials to take a job for a head coach who looks to be on his last leg and who just had to sacrifice his last pitching coach to save face and possibly his job.

I adore Nolan but he was in pretty rough shape the last time I saw him.

Unless it's one of the last 8 standing (7 since we know tu isn't an option), this isn't a good sign that we know so little about the search

Anyone think the Troy pitching coach is a target? Let's call it last 6 standing.

Same could be said for the Pennington hire last year. You would have more than likely said no way why would Pennington leave now for A&M for a coach who might be fired at the end of the year. He was a very hot commodity and had turned down other offers. Also not apples to apples entirely but plenty of coaches have changed pitching coaches after two years and gone on to be successful. Weiner was a name the average fan did not know until he was hired then we started hearing about what others in the industry were saying. Continue to be a Debbie downer though if that fulfills you.

Might have to be familiar with the football board antics to catch that Rojo reference.
They were a supposed "insider" that was saying it was a done deal across the BMA's that we were hiring Steve Spurrier to be the new OC under Sumlin.

As I recall, when Dewshnagle brought in Weiner there were more than a few folks like "who is this guy? He's too young and never been a PC at the college level and pros are way different than college."
Just some perspective on the matter.
It was 100% going to happen until the ole ball coach finally got connected to the private flight wi-fi and saw TexAgs had spilled the beans.Emilio Fantastico said:TxAg76 said:trouble said:TxAg76 said:

And the then jet turned around mid-flight on its way to College Station.

True, but there was also a proven track record of making good asst coach hires to lean back on
