Inquiring minds would like to know… catcher? Augie from USC as a power hitter? Another pitcher that can hopefully develop? Brauny on X is the literal "I know something you don't know," of the childhood playground days. You know, before we had social media and it was all word of mouth.

I mean....it's a marketing gimmick to get people to sign up for premium.

If he would at least retweet his Bomb Voyage gif when that specific player commits, that would at least help us know if someone fell through or how many days before we can expect a result.

Maybe, just maybe the staff thinks there are some minor corrections to improve this kid. He obviously has very good swing and miss stuff. I seem to remember Cortez having awful numbers until we brought in a new pitching coach….then he became one of our best relievers.

He seems to have the profile of a guy with good stuff but poor consistency, repeatability or pitch usage. High K rate and whiff rate that has some goods outings against decent teams but high ERA and gets hit around a bit.

If he's one of the cornerstones of our transfer class, I hate it. If he's like the 4th or 5th best arm we take, I'm happy about it. He's not a guy I want to go into the season planning to rely on, but he could be a very pleasant surprise with the right development.

Getting guys with this profile will be a huge test of the new pitching coach.

The .282 BAA concerns me. But there can be a lot of reasons that can happen. Lack of stuff, lack of command, poor pitch selection, becoming predictable in certain counts... All things a good pitching coach could help.

And this is a dangerous (ignorant ?) thing to say, but based solely on the metrics I'd like to see him tweak his changeup grip a little and find another 2-3mph gap between his fastball and changeup. Those numbers say he's got great arm speed on the pitch but he needs to find more friction on the release.

As you said, I don't see him as a starter but could be a nice bullpen piece. Anyone that is expecting us to go out and buy 3 1st round talents in the portal is going to be extremely disappointed. You hope to maybe go get 1 of those guys and then you're going to have to fill in around them with depth pieces.

That was always obvious unless we just dominated the portal (which so far not looking great), we are losing 3 first rounders in our lineup and a catcher that was super underrated.

Yea with our current pitching situation you think we would get a blue-chip portal or two that know they can come in, compete, and likely be weekend starters in the SEC. We don't seem to have momentum, and the pitching coach (to date) hasn't had much impact. Hope that changes.
