Because your comment isn't logical because you under think. Try "way overthinking". And if you don't want to hear it from me, scroll up and look at the picture and use the organ in your head and try to think analytically about the move. That's not over thinking for most. It's just called thinking.

ummm a few thoughts....

1. this guy dragged us when he was here AND when he left.
2. He could have had any head coach job he wanted.
3. Why would he come back here for 1 year unless he was made promises? earley has 1 year left on contract and i havent heard any talk of an extension.
4. Who coaches third?
5. What does Cain tell recruits after the last 3 years of going back and forth? "Yeah I said this but i didnt mean it. its all good now" . sweet credibility and way to build relationships. Speaking of Recruiting... does anyone remember burner phones and recruiting for Texas while at A&M? Raise your hand.
6. How well are we going to do recruiting, with a coach with 1 year left on contract?
7. There are only 3 scenario's here.
A. He reached out because unhappy at Texas. - no chance in hell because he would just take the UH job.
B. Trev hired him a long time ago in anticipation of Earley having a bad year. - So; 12 months from now we look dumb for not keeping Earley if he has a good year. or we look dumb for not getting rid of him fast enough. This screams we have no faith in Mike. So then the talk will be why didnt we get rid of him earlier (when we hired nolan cain)?
C. Earley is about to take another job. Probably a AAA hitting coach or an illinois/indiana school (i forget where he is from) that gives him more stability while his kids grow up. The uncertainty about leaving after next year vs him choosing where to go now is probably easier to manage. Recruiting will be tough and how motivated would you be knowing there is no confidence in you from your admin.

IMO...C is the only answer that makes sense. Cain should not be coaching under Earley. He knows it and Earley knows it. Schloss said it many times. "Cain will be an SEC head coach soon and he isnt going to take any job."

Good luck Coach Earley!!

Earley has two years left on his contract.

I mean, let's not forget that he worked with schLoss already here. Not exactly a brand new quality of his being a narcissist. Unless being in Austin has allowed POS to finally open up his "true" self and gone full egomaniac.

Still think it more likely we just money whipped him combined with the better lifestyle here for his family.

Either way, what a wild get! Came running here as soon as I heard the news.

Oh ok! So schloss just says it all the time for funsies. Cain's like "Jim I don't want to be a hc so stop saying that." Schloss- "hell no. I'm gonna say it."

Kendall rogers doesn't know that and writes a whole article about it. But you know

Could be something to not wanting to be a head coach. Granted I'm at the HS level but I've been an assistant at the same school for ten years. Some of the first advice I got in coaching was if the salary is livable just shoot for the top assistant job. I get all the baseball I want, and I get to see the headaches and sometimes help the headaches. But I don't have the headaches.

The Schloss intro press conference photo told the story. There were 2 people that definitely didn't look happy to be there and they are now on our staff.

He was probably tired of working for that a-hole.

This is Awesome on so many levels! First, it is an indictment on Schloss anf tu because he knew schloss was a POS but being at tu the padt few years has proven too much, one can only toletate the arrogance and prententiousness so much before no.amount of money makes it worth it! Second, I think he realizes there is momentum building here and he wants to be a part of it.

Make it make sense.

Implicit in your logic is an assumption that Earley is in a tenuous position. He doesn't have a multi year contract, but he's trending the right direction. This is a vote of confidence from someone who has options. It doesn't square with your world view, so you throw a bunch of crap up against the wall to see if something sticks.

I don't know about scandals, but at some point I firmly believe assistant coaches get tired of POS's shtick. Just listen to Tony Vitello. He did not get along with JS at all at TCU.

TCU had also plateaued under Schloss his last few years there. Him and Cain were an elite duo, and he helped jumpstart Schloss again, in addition to the change of scenery. Will be interesting to see who they hire.

Correct. The notion that there would be a flop in the portal or failure in getting a good pitching coach because Earley is a dead man walking has been floated ad nauseum. And once again that narrative looks to be dead wrong. Give it up!
