He's taking the long way around the barn to get to it if that's coming.

Really?

Only 360 positive covid out of 8,700 tested. Less than 5% have it that are tested and they are only testing those who they think have it.

If he closes down Texas for those numbers it will be a travesty.

I'm just stating the obvious and not being like the media. His previous conference was much much much calmer and collected.

The problem is none of those numbers are remotely accurate when it comes to actual cases. ANd I also disagree with that statement that they are only testing people who they think have it. K nkow for a fact they have tested people who had been in contact with people who had just been in contact with people but no symptoms of being sick.

I also know people that they are quite certain have it but are not testing.

I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

As far as timing. Friday TAMU System extended work from home till May 1. 6 weeks longer than was originally planned after Spring Break.

The Texas Department of Emergency Management is a big part of running the govt response in Texas. The Director of the Texas Department of Emergency Management reports to the TAMUS Chancellor because TDEM is part of the AM System.

Use logic to think about how, what, and why decisions are being made and you will quickly realize that April 3 is not going to signal an "all clear, back to work".

Well, duh. We've known that for 2 weeks already. The only decision has been how much at a time to roll out

From Abbott:

We've more than tripled the number of people tested in TX from 2000 and change to 8000 and change in just the last two days.

For those tests which have had results come back, 90% are testing negative.

He is ordering hospitals to postpone all elective procedures.

We need all hands on deck. A lot of health work being done does not require a lot of expertise.

I like what he is saying as we can open up more hospital beds with his executive orders. Very common sense.

Now he's talking about the penalties of violating the previous executive orders -- so sounds like for now nothing more strict.

To clarify, the vast majority of tests have occurred in last two days and vast majority of those we wouldn't have results back on yet.

So the more accurate statement is that it's 90% negative tests of the results we have back. Presumably, a significant number of the ~6,000 tested in last two days will also test positive. We will see how thwt changes the % of positives.

No shelter-in-place.

Saying because majority of counties don't have cases that it's not right for us right now.

Agree

Saying local authorities can enact shelter-in-place, but not going to do it state-wide.

I don't like sweeping restrictions, but I also don't like putting it in the hands of the local mayors to make these type of decisions. The further down you go, the further down these officials make decisions for re-election.
