If you see anything available on amazon....it will likely be gone before you checkout...100% chance it does not make it for you to post a link...i have been watching for weeks now...esp brand name stuff...i havent clicked on any generic TP options...

For basic (not cleaning products, toilet paper, papwer towels, etc) we are using Target delivery (shipt?) with relatively decent success. They add like a $9 shipping fee + tip but vs exposure the cost isnt too hight. We just wipe or wash everything off before putting it up.

For toilet paper, we have about 18 rolls left. I had been searching amazong day and night. late last week i snagged some on Amazon (pure luck) and it is set to deliver on April 20. I think we will make it just fine but it will be closer than i like...
Good luck. Hope you get your order in. I ordered a case of paper towels a couple of weeks back. Kept delaying delivery. Last delivery date was today. Order deleted from Amazon;s system. Got an email saying the seller couldn't deliver in the relevant time frame (or something to that effect). At least Amazon's record is unblemished since it was deleted.

I found it searching while reading this thread and then immediately purchased. We'll see if i actually get it.

That is disappointing. Was yours sold by Amazon.com Services or a third party?

Hoping since Amazon as seller less "risk" but we will see.

I am not too concerned. Just picky and trying to stay away from grocery stores. If we are down to a point where only rolls we have are in use I will just have to start driving around town till I find some...

Planoaggie and others that have used Shipt - have you had any issues with missing items and if so how did you reach them to get fixed?

We did our 1st order yesterday and were very pleased with the delivery time frame, communication with shopper/delivery person, etc. Groceries were left on the front porch and we waited some time to bring in and unload, and did not double check against list. This morning we realized we were missing a few items and went back through the order to double-check. Not huge $$ and luckily not important stuff.

Reached out to Customer Service via chat e-mail etc. and were told it will be several days before we get a response due to volume.

Just FYI

I'm staying out of the grocery stores as well and either do curbside or delivery, but have not been able to get paper products, wipes, etc.

I went to Office Depot right when they opened. No lines. The floor was taped for social distancing at check out. I found TP. Went to Target right when they opened. No lines and I found paper towels, Clorox wipes and even a large container of sanitizer. This was in The Woodlands.

Had to hit Kroger's in Allen yesterday, first time I have been there in three weeks. Paper aisle was completely empty unless you need picnic supplies.

Sprouts has had whatever we needed minus meat but they don't sell Kraft Mayo.

Lowe's is limiting 50 shoppers at a time and shut down entry/exit in the garden center and they were busy setting up sneeze shields to protect cashiers and workers.

With Shipt, they have been pretty good. I have not noticed yet instances of being charged for something that I did not get. Some items they text and try to replace. Some they dont seem to even bother trying (maybe b.c there are no suitable other options) and they show up as "cancelled" items under the order.

I am trying to now order 2X per week. It adds to the cost ($9 delivery fee + tip) but we are not eating out so I guess its just a wash. This limits the chance of going a week without something we kinda like to have. For instance we did not get eggs one time but 4/5 days later we did.

Overall fairly happy with the service. Definitely looking forward to doing our own shopping in the future but definitely a huge plus in coronavirus world...

I hit Tom Thumb when they open every 2-3 days. It's like a kid in a candy store, never know what surprises are past those front doors.

I think that is what will be our plan of action.

When we get low I plan to hit up office supply stores, home depot, gas stations, etc. Limit my exposure to people and hoping they are less thought of places.

The toilet paper shortage is a CLASSIC example of how stupid people are...it is a self perpetuating shortage. People are hoarding because of the shortage and the hoarding is causing the shortage. If everyone just fn' stops being fn' idiots and just buy what they need (ie....don't buy your alotted one pkg when you can if you have a fn' closet full at home) then the shortage will end.

The TP issues is really starting to piss me off more and more each day. We always buy from Sams when we need it and we are starting to finally get low. Now I am going to look like these Cov-Idiots out there trying to buy TP.

for TP...... a different solution........

if you are "regular" and only go once or twice a day and you really run out and are at home.....

wait until you have to go.....then shower after.

If you only go once or twice a day, you are seriously dehydrated and need to drink more water.

Agree. Its crazy. I mean at this point we should be seeing product in the stores.

Do people still think stores are going to close? Its clear they are not. So stop hoarding and get what you need for a week or so.

I am hoping my Amazon order comes through. If not, i will go out and try and find 12 rolls. Don't need to stock up for end of the world...

I would think you might have irritable bowels if you are going more than once or perhaps twice per day...

Have had the most luck on Amazon. Last week, we received antibacterial gel, yesterday our Clorox wipes came in, and TP is being delivered today.

My mom has had the best luck at Dollar General.

Took me only 2-1/2 hours at Kroger last night for my Click List pickup.

Wound up being the next-to-last car to get my order, which was about 1/3 complete.

Lessons learned:
  • Don't go on pay day.
  • Don't do evening pickup times

"smart" people are instructing everyone to stay home, wash hands regularly, use hand sanitizer, and disinfect items and surfaces often... however, people have to put themselves in danger 3-4 times per day to visit various stores to look for anti-bac hand soap, hand sanitizer, and household cleaner, etc. ...and still can't find any of those luxuries anywhere.. sad and ironic.

We are running semi low on sanitizing wipes.

We are not going out minus walks, etc.

We are taking the assumption our house is "sterile".

All mail (snail mail and packages) are going into a corner of our garage for 4 days of quarantine.

All delivered packaged foods is being wiped with wipes. Fruit, etc are just being washed down carefully. Hands are washed after.

We just do the best we can. I do wish we had more wipes...

Girlfriend's dad is classic Covid. Despite being in a higher risk group (late 60s') he's going to stores every day or other day to find more, usually tp and paper towels. He texted a pic and I counted over 30 rolls of tp. Him and his wife live alone. What was funny was sitting amongst his stash was a single wrapped roll of Scott tp. He bought a single roll because he saw one, then put it with the rest of his stash of unopened 12 roll packs.

This was a pretty interesting counter-take that I had never considered:

https://marker.medium.com/what-everyones-getting-wrong-about-the-toilet-paper-shortage-c812e1358fe0

Basically that the average household will use 40% more toilet paper than usual if staying home / sheltering in place. That there are two sides to the toilet paper industry: commercial (where people work, restaurants, airports, etc...) vs the home consumer. Therefore the demand did in fact increase on the home consumer side while the commercial side is currently sitting on a large, unused supply. This shift to the home consumer (plus some hoarding / panic buying) isn't trivial and couldn't be anticipated by the toilet paper industry.

Obviously a lot of truth in that article but the truth is people initially hoarded unreasonable amounts of TP in advance of them and honestly, as you see from Walton91's girlfriend's dad...people continue to buy it when they see it even if they dont need it

Yeah, I think that is the best counter point. People started hoarding before (most) shelter in place orders. I think that only exacerbates the problem.

You rookies need to go to Dollar General to get TP. Every time I've been in there (for things other than TP), they've had TP, paper towels, and disposable wipes. Course, I live in a little more rural East Tennessee.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Try at a RV supply shop. The last place I went to had a bunch - albeit the kind that dissolves quickly in RV septic systems.

Welp, gf's folks just stopped by and gifted us a megapack of paper towels and a megapack of tp, which when added to our inventory now makes me a hoarder

That's funny, when I do see it, that's all that's there because people don't want to spend the whole dollar extra for a little quality where quality counts. That's all we use.
