We are running semi low on sanitizing wipes.

We are not going out minus walks, etc.

We are taking the assumption our house is "sterile".

All mail (snail mail and packages) are going into a corner of our garage for 4 days of quarantine.

All delivered packaged foods is being wiped with wipes. Fruit, etc are just being washed down carefully. Hands are washed after.

We just do the best we can. I do wish we had more wipes...
You can get everything you are looking for if you are willing to go on Ebay and pay a premium. Far better than going to 4 or 5 stores and getting sick.

Someone decided to go shopping with my credit card to buy about $1,200 of medical supplies from a CPR training company. It's on a card that I don't even carry with me, that I hardly use.

Of course Chase didn't view it as suspicious enough to even contact me to confirm. And even better their customer service ability is incredibly diminished thanks to India being on lockdown so I will have to call tomorrow after waiting 30 minutes on hold today.

Things are normal here. I need a couple of things like milk or carrots, I go to the Publix 1/4 mile away and come home with milk and carrots. No shortages or anything going on over here.

Geez, after awhile you would think everyone would have enough TP. It's not like everybody is going more all of the sudden.

for TP...... a different solution........

if you are "regular" and only go once or twice a day and you really run out and are at home.....

wait until you have to go.....then shower after.

If you only go once or twice a day, you are seriously dehydrated and need to drink more water.

#2??????

#1.

why would i need to shower after #1?

you using TP for #1?.....cuz that was the scenario not having TP.

All I know is that I've been reading the Coronavirus thread here on Texags since it began forever ago and decided to buy a lot of tp a while ago. Good job Texags!

I think that is a good sign. That one has been available for a while. Hopefully in a few weeks the TP market will return to quasi-normal.

I am still holding out that my Cottonelle does not get cancelled...

I typically use Grove Collaborative and they just got TP back in stock from being out of stock as of this morning (4/4/20). I had an order on backorder due to it being out but it shipped within 10 mins of their re-stock. They also have any and every cleaning item possible, including hand sanitizer. It takes a few days to ship out as opposed to their normal 24 hour turn around, however, they're solid in terms of product, customer service, and deliverables. Best of all.. it arrives at my door from Missouri from their own warehouse.

As far as specifics, I have always used their Hydrating Hand Sanitizer in Blood Orange (in-stock as of right now) as well as all their branded cleaning supplies. Also, Mrs. Meyers dish and hand soap is the bomb as well.....

I've been doing our shopping and I've tried several ways, so I can tell you a few experiences if that would help. FYI, my parents (over 80) live with us, so I'm shopping for 4 adults.

- HEB Pickup - I don't normally shop HEB, but my daughter does, so I tried it first. They had nothing in stock online at the time I put things in my cart, but I understood that they would shop at the last minute before my pickup time, which was several days away. HUGE NEGATIVE: Once you place your initial order you can only add 4 new items to the order. Any more than that you have to delete your entire order and start again, or start a second order. Both Kroger and Wal-Mart allow you to add as many items as you'd like up to 12 hours before your pickup time. That makes both of them much better/easier to use in this situation. I ended up just deleting my order and going with Wal-Mart, so I can't comment on how the rest of the experience would have gone.

- Kroger Delivery - Weird experience. They had most things I needed, it seemed, with a few exceptions. I ordered from my closest Kroger location, but when the delivery window passed with no groceries I discovered that my delivery was actually at a farther away Kroger. The groceries finally arrived three hours late and were dropped at my door with out ringing the doorbell. Won't use that again.

- Kroger Pickup - works okay and can add unlimited items to your order, but their website shows a lot of stuff out of stock that I later discovered IS available inside the store. Their pickup times are several days out at this point.

- Wal-Mart Pickup - (Grocery side, not Walmart.com) - Walmart Grocery has been my best experience for picking up groceries. They do a good job of finding what you need or giving you decent substitutes, and the windows for picking up have usually been the next day or two, not several days out.

- Going inside the stores. Both Wal-Mart and Kroger have more inside their stores than they show in stock online. Both have been not very crowded (and I don't shop first thing in the morning). I usually go in late morning range 11-12 or so, and have been pleased to see not many people in the store and people staying apart. Yesterday I did run into a family with two kids running around the store, but I just avoided them.

Kroger has set up plastic shields at the checkouts so even though you are closer than 6 feet to the clerk, you are protected.

I haven't been inside HEB so I don't know their situation, but most of the people on my NextDoor seem to like HEB and have talked about how crowded it is. No one has mentioned shields, but they might have them, too.

Oh, and I've been able to get TP and bottled water at both Kroger and WM, but only by going inside. They've had plenty of both, though not the way they did before.

No hand sanitizer anywhere, though.

I found TP... haven't seen anti-bacterial hand soap, household cleaner, or hand sanitizer in about a month though. Getting low on all three and typical online ordering estimates tend to be late May or June delivery

Not saying you need to shower. I'm just saying... people go to the bathroom a lot more than twice a day.
Sorry.

And yes I use TP for #1. Of course. Do... do men not need to? I really don't know.

Well, I guess that's a good thing. Bet some people have some funny stories about their first "bread attempts".

All I know is Texans are some hoarding mother f-ers. I live in the Seattle area and we have spot shortages of stuff that's on delay from fulfillment, but it changes every trip (TP for a while, then rice, then pasta). I can basically get whatever I want. Strange as I KNOW the Texas supply chain is more expansive than it is up here.

There's a super simple beer bread recipe going around tik-tok, instagram, and twitter right now.

It takes something like 5 ingredients and a beer. lots of posts of people baking bread.

Ah, now THAT makes sense. I couldn't figure out why people wanted to make a standard loaf of bread, when it's so cheap to buy. I mean, it would be like me deciding to make my own butter or something.

For a week or so bread was in short supply as well, also one of the few things that's difficult to stock up on so flour and yeast let's you not have to go to a store to get more

Some of the toilet paper crisis is being caused not by hoarding (though that contributes to it), but rather by supply chain changes. Individual families are purchasing FAR more TP than normal. The channels that normally supply restaurants, businesses, gas stations, etc have more than normal. The ones that supply grocery stores/individuals are running low. We need to switch them over. This is not an easy task. It's enhanced by hoarding, but it's not solely caused by that.

Really disappointed today. Picked up curbside my Kroger order I had to place four days ago. 1/3 of it not filled and not subsitututed. Yet there is no way they let me know. I am severly limitted my time out. Went just over three weeks staying home. This was my out time and I did a DG at opening elder hour and a Braums. I would have bought some things there IF Kroger had notified me they did not have bacon for instance. I allowed subsitution so I take that to mean in the last four days they have had NO bacon. Otherwise they are not setting things aside for order and it is just random if you manage to get anything... I see why people are risking their lives and actually going into the store. I know for sure now I will have to get out again at least to braums. Does anyone know if they will sell grocery things through the drive through or do I have to take a chance and go inside?

They usually pull things a couple hours before you pick up. If they were out of bacon at that time you get no bacon.

Can't answer your braums question but if Target is an option I have been fairly pleased. They do a good job of texting as they shop and communicating what they can't find and if any reasonable substitutes. A few items they don't message about but I assume it falls under the "no suitable replacement" category. It seems like each time I get more of my order. I assume that is due to inventory levels normalizing. If

my upset with Krogers is that they put a hold on your debit or credit card when you place the order, in effect charging you for it. If that is the case they should reserve what you have purchased. Or tell you at the time you place th order they do not have it.

It is forcing people to risk their lives by going into the stores.
planoaggie123
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Honestly even Target is bad about that. They ultimately have enough "comparables" to fill order but what they show as in stock often is not. Sometimes that means more expensive substitute, sometimes cheaper. Also, target not only holds your full order charge on card but the also add 15 or 25% extra as you can add stuff to cart later. It's basically them making sure you have the credit.

We are getting out 1-2x's a week to go to the store between shopping for us and getting stuff my inlaws/parents need that they were not able to order.

I found a huge thing of TP at Lowe's CS Wednesday about 3PM. Twice last week I passed up Clorox wipes and now I am kicking myself for it.

We wipe everything down that comes into the house with a clorox wipe and throw packaging away when not needed. I then wipe down cabinets & door handles and then take a shower/change clothes.

I wipe down everything in my car that I touch after leaving a store and use hand sanitizer.

I have been bathing in hand sanitizer... I just had a personal panic attack after reading the back of Clorox wipes... apparently you have to use enough wipes to make sure the surface is wet for 4 minutes in order to sanitize the the surface well... FML.

What kinda BS marketing allows them to make claims that they kill 99.9% of virus if allowed to be damp for 4 min when the wipe evaporates within 15-20 seconds even fresh out of the box.

I'm far from an expert, so take it with a gigantic grain of salt. Assuming you're talking about sanitizing something that you're not going to be constantly touching, I think you'd be okay with a Clorox wipe followed by washing your hands.

That was my thought as well. It might not be 99.9% but its probably 90%+. I guess ill start soaking stuff for 5 min in a 1% sodium hypochlorite solution.

Are you talking about things like groceries that you bring into your home? Non-perishables should be fine if you wipe them down and let them sit on the shelf for a day or two. Perishables should be good if you cook them (I believe I've read there's no known transmission through cooked food).
