Governor just announced.

Counties with 5 or few cases open at 50% capacity, everybody else at 25%.

Bars, gyms, hair salons and barbers not opening til Mid May.

If that works without a flare up, occupancy will expand to 50% May 18th.

25% capacity in college station

Geez , most restaurants in town have an hour wait anytime Thursday- Sunday at full capacity.

So I guess if they are at capacity and you put your name on a wait list you have to wait in your car?

Whatever I'm just glad we're on the track back to normal life

Can wait to to hear " can I start y'all off with a cold beer maybe some queso"

I will literally camp outside Chuys.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

The ONE thing I urgently need did not open. NONE of those men on stage have shaggy hair. Someone is cutting theirs.

MY bangs are midway down my nose. My stylist has her own place. How is that not safe. She wears gloves anyway. If we both wear a mask, now is that not safer than going into a store?

I am upset.

Women don't successfully cut our own hair. Men might can use clippers. I can't order a haircut from Amazon. I don't eat out anyway.

I need my hair cut urgently.

Ouch.

I posted elsewhere that I kind of think 25% occupancy may work well for businesses (and customers) to get their feet back underneath them as they work through inventory and staffing issues. I'm not sure there will be a big rush back to 'normal' for several weeks.

Abbott made the ludicrous statement that we are doing this so we do not have to close again.

We cannot and will not close again no matter what happens. Floating that out there is my number one problem with all of this. Quit feeding this fear.

It's a Coronavirus. Most if us are going to get it.
I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

I suspect most will do something to allow you to get on the list without having to hang around, even if that wasn't their policy pre-virus.

It won't do any good to have a restaurant 25-50% capacity, but simply have 3-4 times that many people sitting around just outside of the door.

I also suspect lots of folks will continue to do curbside pickup.

Not sure why that bothers you so much - I think he's basically saying the same thing, just replace his "so we don't have to" with "because we can't" and you guys are in 100% agreement.

Even if we all agree we can't possibly shut down again, I doubt you're going to hear a governor speak in absolutes like that.

Maybe. But words matter, and his words mean something different than mine.

I just want one politician. One. Just one, to be honest. Come out and say it. 'IT IS A CORONAVIRUS AND MOST OF US ARE GOING TO EVENTUALLY GET IT.' That was the initial message back in early March. But apparently it doesnt poll well.

Look at this board or your facebook page? How many people actually think the goal is to prevent you from getting it? Or think that doing everything we can to prevent is the right thing to do?

The beaches opened up this weekend and there was MAYBE 5% of the normal crowd. I suspect it will be like that with this as well.

We have a beach house in Surf City NC (paid for by the inlaws, not us) in mid June and we still plan on going. Less people is actually a good thing!

I don't think that it is a fact most of us are eventually going to get it. Countries that had well-executed containment strategies like South Korea, New Zealand, etc. have seen their new cases drive down to almost nothing. I think it's realistic for people in those countries to expect to not get coronavirus.

That wasn't his point. His point was "if we open up too quickly and this thing explodes, we'd have to shutdown in order to preserve our hospital capacity. So, we're doing it slowly to see where we're at." The whole issue is how quickly and how much strain does that put on hospitals? We still don't have good data so being cautious makes sense.

The initial message in March was we need to spread out everyone getting it, that's still the message, as evidenced by Abbott's comments.

Like someone mentioned, if only allowed at 25% capacity, maybe some of the restaurants can utilize outdoor dining in parking lots to spread more people out. Not ideal and I know some won't be able to do that.
